It is with great regret that we have to inform you that North Oxford Medical Centre will be closing on Friday 29 November 2013.
The practice has explored all options for the future and decided that, due to retirement and other changes, running the practice at 96 Woodstock Road is no longer viable.
This decision to close the practice has not been taken lightly and we would like to thank you, our patients, for the loyalty you have shown us and the good relationships we have built with you over the years.
We are working with NHS England’s Thames Valley Area Team to help support all of our patients during this period of change. As patients of North Oxford Medical Centre you can continue to be seen by your GP at the practice where full services will continue, however by the end of November you will need to register with an alternative GP practice of your choice.
Choosing a new GP practice Two of our GP partners will be transferring to another GP practice in Oxford when the practice closes Dr Steel is moving to Dr Chivers and Dr Parker’s practice at Jericho Health Centre. Dr Howie is moving to Summertown Health Centre at 160 Banbury Road, which also has branch surgeries in Cutteslowe and Wolvercote.
Patients currently registered with Dr Steel or Dr Howie may wish to follow them and register with their new GP practices. Both Dr Chivers and Dr Parker’s practice and Summertown Health Centre have confirmed that they have space to take on new patients and would welcome patients from North Oxford Medical Centre.
Dr Mather will be retiring once the practice closes. If you are one of his patients, you may wish to register with either of the above practices or take the opportunity to transfer to another GP practice of your choice. GP practices which cover the North Oxford Medical Centre area, are aware that patients from North Oxford Medical Centre will be looking to register with a new GP practice and are ready to welcome new patients.
North Oxford Medical Centre will continue to work with NHS England’s Thames Valley Area Team to facilitate the smooth transfer of patient care and records and help patients with locating and choosing a suitable practice to move to.

Alternatively if you need support in identifying who to register with, you can contact Thames Valley Primary Care Agency on 0118 918 3333 who can give you information about GP practices closest to where you live.
How to register In order to be registered you will need to complete a form, which will be available at the practice of your choice. Please be advised that if you do not register with another GP practice by the end of November then this will result in you being without access to local GP services until you do register.
