Activities Things to do in Munich

• Christmas markets: Baked apples, gingerbread and more! Daily from 10am, the 160+ booths are open for visitors. During the evening, you can listen to Advent music, a glass of mulled wine in your hand - and really get into the mood for Christmas! The biggest attraction - literally - of the market is the magnificent Christmas tree in front of the new town hall (Neues Rathaus). Be sure to get some Gluewein, which is a delicious mulled wine!

• Schloss Nymphenburg: The impressive Baroque palace to the west of Munich was built as summer residence for the Bavarian Electors. The main building now houses a museum, and in its large park, there are a number pavilions and an exotic greenhouse with a café.

• Hofbrau Haus: Hofbräuhaus is one of Munich’s most famous and popular attractions.

• Marienplatz: The Marienplatz is the heart of Munich and the site of the world-famous Glockenspiel. Every at 11am and 12am, the mechanical dancers in the tower of the New Town Hall come to life when the chimes.

• Neuschwanstein Castle: This is one of the most popular of all the palaces and castles in Europe. Every 1.4 million people visit "the castle of the fairy-tale king". In the summer around 6,000 visitors a day stream through rooms that were intended for a single inhabitant.

• Sandeman’s walking tours: I always try to use this company when I’m in Europe. Very informative and fun tours!

Things to do in Prague

• Christmas markets: The Prague Christmas Markets consist of brightly decorated wooden huts stocked with local handicrafts and traditional Christmas treats. Among the many items on display are ceramics, jewelry, embroidered lace, wooden toys, scented candles, Christmas tree ornaments, and puppets dressed in traditional costume.

• Charles Bridge: This iconic bridge was built in 1357 under the guidance of Charles IV, and up to the 19th century, it remained the only bridge connecting both sides of Prague. Take a stroll over the bridge and learn the names of the 30 saints whose statues stand sentinel there.

• Old Town Square: The Old Town marketplace with its pastel-coloured baroque houses and cathedral is one of Europe’s most beautiful squares. Check out the , which has been ticking since 1490 on the wall of the Old Town City Hall. Every between 9:00 and 23:00, visitors can see the Apostles (small wooden figures) appear from the clock. At closer glance, one can see mystical signs on the clock´s face.

• Prague Castle: The whole of Prague Castle, the area that lies on a hill overlooking the city, is a must for any visitor. The castle’s goes back to the , and it is believed to be Europe’s largest castle. The Gothic St.Vitus’ Cathedral, which took more than 600 to build, is most significant and impressive.

• Café Savoy: This beautiful grand café with its superb neo-renaissance ceiling has been open since 1893. Come early for breakfast; pop in for coffee and a cake from their patisserie; enjoy the daily lunch special accompanied by a beer; or come for generously sized Czech and French classics at dinner.

• Beer tasting: If there is one place where you should take the opportunity to sample some of the best beers in the world, it's here. There are tons of great pubs where you can begin your tasting, and even a museum dedicated to the beverage.
