T. It was the last completed film by veteran actor and evergreen hero of Malayalam cinema Preem Nazir, who died on January 16, 1989. The film features music written by the legendary Bollywood composer Naishad. The main roles were played by Jayaram and Shobkhan. Suresh Gopi also stars in the film. The famous writer Waik Muhammad Bashir makes a special appearance as a visitor in the hospital. The film became a hit to several factors, how excellent performances of actors and incendiary music scored veteran composer Naushad, his first and only score for the film Malayalam. Ongallur Sadasiwan, Minister of Kerala State, is alleged to have been involved in a dam-building scam. The Judicial Commission, headed by an honest judge, Judge Rajeshaharan Naira, is investigating the scam. Vettukuji, a corrupt political king, tries to save Sadasivan and the reputation of his party. Dr. Dinesh, Sadasiwan's son, does not appreciate his father's illegal friendship with Vettukji. The marriage of Dr. Dinesh and his beloved Sunita was annulled because of the accusations faced by his father. With things getting tense, Vettukuzhi tries to bribe Rajasekhan, but fails. In an attempt to complete his new novel, Shabari, a young and well-known writer, has a temporary residence in a guest house of the local government. With the advent of the Commission, Shabari is forced to vacate his room for Judge Nair and the family, which consists of Malati's wife and daughter Devi, who is also an amateur dancer. Shabari and Devi fall in love through mutual admiration for their artistic skills, do not know each other personally. Rajasekhan and Malati are pleased with this alliance. When Shabari proposes to Devi, she is silent, and only then does he realize that she lacks the ability to speak. Despite the devastation, he informed his parents of the situation and his family strongly opposed his proposal. Judge Rajasehan tries to convince Shabari's father, who is also his childhood friend, although he cannot influence the family's decision. After all, the Commission submits its report on the dam scam that leads to the resignation of Minister Sadasivan. Devi's family is still heartbroken over her fate as she prepares to leave the Guest House. The very next morning the Shabari family arrives and convinces Rajaseharan of their agreement to accept Devi, who is currently missing. In a frantic quest, Shabari finally finds a tired Devi sitting on the riverbank. Thus, the duo teamed up, finishing the film on a happy note. Bollywood Shakespeares from Gulzar to Bhardwaj: Adapting, Assimilating and Culturalizing the Bard Koel Chatterjee PhD Thesis 10 October, 2017 I, Koel Chatterjee, hereby declare that this thesis and the work presented in it is entirely my own. Where I have consulted the work of others, this is always clearly stated. Signed: Date: 10th October, 2017 Acknowledgements This thesis would not have been possible without the patience and guidance of my supervisor Dr Deana Rankin. Without her ability to keep me focused despite my never-ending projects and her continuous support during my many illnesses throughout these last five years, this thesis would still be a work in progress. I would also like to thank Dr. Ewan Fernie who inspired me to work on Shakespeare and Bollywood during my MA at Royal Holloway and Dr. Christie Carson who encouraged me to pursue a PhD after six years of being away from academia, as well as Poonam Trivedi, whose work on Filmi Shakespeares inspired my research. I thank Dr. Varsha Panjwani for mentoring me through the last three years, for the words of encouragement and support every time I doubted myself, and for the stimulating discussions that helped shape this thesis. Last but not the least, I thank my family: my grandfather Dr Somesh Chandra Bhattacharya, who made it possible for me to follow my dreams; my mother Manasi Chatterjee, who taught me to work harder when the going got tough; my sister, Payel Chatterjee, for forcing me to watch countless terrible Bollywood films; and my father, Bidyut Behari Chatterjee, whose impromptu recitations of Shakespeare to underline a thought or an emotion have led me inevitably to becoming a Shakespeare scholar.

  • T Have Seen Jayaram If I Hadn't Met Abelachan'
Superstar’s statement: ‘You wouldn’t have seen Jayaram if I hadn’t met Abelachan’ By Anjali Regi - January 21, 2020 Kochi: Malayalam cinema star Jayaram shared a memoir of Abel Bachchan’s 100th birthday on his birthday. In a note to the ‘Deepika’ newspaper yesterday, he revealed that if he had not met Abelhachan, Jayaram would not have been the one we see today. Jayaram described the past years of his life at Kalabhavan with Abelhachan as the most beautiful years. Today is Jan. 19. Abelhachan’s 100th birthday. Can’t believe it. How much time has passed. I feel like everything is yesterday. Abelhachan is the star of the arts today. But to me, he is the incorruptible star lamp. Beginner of all my riches. From the time I landed at Kala Bhavan on September 24, 1984 until my death, it was the love of a father. We had an indefinite father-son relationship. Had you not met Abelhachan, you probably would not have seen Jayaram today. I still remember those early moments in my art house. He came to his father for the first time with fear and much respect. Achan asked him a little more seriously what he knew. Mimicry will show. I said with a grin. Then imitated Prem Nazir. Is ‘Prem Nazir’ the imitator of Tanner? Father’s question in seriousness. I was worried. But he chose me that day. Later, Achen told me. ‘Your first performance was very good.
