Age UK Hereford & Localities provide a range of activities and services for people aged 50 and over, their families and carers. Our staff and volunteers help people to maintain their independence and dignity. We support people to remain comfortable in their own homes and remain active in their communities.

Our services include: Information & Advice: we provide free, high quality, impartial and easy to understand information and advice on a wide range of topics, such as benefits and entitlements, housing options, community care, pensions and tax.

Social Activities: Day centres, lunch clubs, social groups and coffee mornings.

Reaching You Home Visiting Service: Our befrienders make regular visits and provide companionship to help alleviate loneliness and isolation.

Care Call Service: our team make weekly telephone calls and provide social support, conversation and friendship.

Reaching You Help at Home Service: we offer practical support to help people maintain their independence. We can help with small DIY jobs and light gardening, shopping, transport and escort.

Footcare Service: this is a basic toenail cutting service which is available at many locations across the county.

Volunteering: we have a wide range of volunteering opportunities available. We are always pleased to welcome new volunteers. We value the skills and experience they bring and the support they give to older members of the community.

Aspire Community – Better Days Aspire supports you to do what you choose, empowering you to be part of your local community and to develop natural friendships. No matter what you like to do, or what your support needs are, Aspire can support you to have a better day, or evening, weekend or holiday!

✓ Better Days. Tailored support so you can do whatever you choose out and about in the community or at Aspire venues, including in the evenings and at weekends.

✓ Monday Social club (Hereford city, daytime and evening) Led and managed by the club’s members, this social group is a perfect way to meet new friends and enjoy activities like discos and karaoke and outings such as to theme parks.

✓ Community Hub (Hereford city). ‘Drop in’ activities including music, drama, yoga and crafts led by people who visit the Hub. Our Board café offers delicious meals and snacks through the day. Do drop in for tea and cake!

✓ Aspire Growing Grow vegetables and fruit in our garden and learn to cook and serve them in our café.

✓ Youth Club and Tea Club (14 – 19 years old). Fun and engaging sessions for young people every Thursday, including learning about a healty diet through cooking your own tea.

The Cart Shed Charity Based in a woodland setting in North Herefordshire, we help those with an imbalance in their lives - to heal, learn new skills, find friendship and a future.

We work with adults and young people, members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, ex-police officers, paramedics, teachers, medical staff, factory workers, carers, the unemployed and school children to learn to manage their own mental and physical health and well-being in a sustainable way.

Our green woodworking basket making gardening coppicing courses are an opportunity to learn new skills or improve on old skills, whilst gaining all the wellbeing benefits of being in the outdoors in our safe and supportive learning environment.

Additional courses include the 5 Ways to Wellbeing music in the woods volunteering skills woodland knowledge time- management personal financial management.

Hereford Community Farm: Working with the community, for the community We provide inclusive, land-based therapeutic activities in a welcoming and supportive environment, just a mile from the city. We provide sessions of supported social and therapeutic horticulture to vulnerable and disabled people of all ages, to enhance their quality of life and promote social inclusion. Sessions are tutor-led lasting 1 or 2 hours and take place at our specially adapted garden at Holme Lacy or at various residential homes throughout the county. Adapted tools and techniques can be used to help. We run different groups for people with differing needs. Attend as part of an organisation or join in with an existing group. We run daytrips to local gardens, hold an annual show and offer craft or cookery sessions in bad weather. We have fun! Herefordshire Mind

We’re your local mental health charity, affiliated to Mind; the leading mental health charity in England and . We’re here because we believe that no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone.

From our Community Hub in Hereford, we run a range of activities designed to help you to work towards or maintain good mental health. We also offer a Community Support Team service, which works with people in their own homes to help them find positive ways to feel valued and live well, as well as a range of supported housing and residential services – please visit our website for more information.

Our current Community Hub activities: Shared Reading (Mondays, 11:30am); ArtSpace (Tuesdays, 10:45am and Thursdays, 10am); Poetry Workshops (held monthly – contact us for dates); Mindful Rhythms Music (Wednesdays, 1:30pm); Active Minds (Fridays, 10:45am); and Well Springs Songwriting (Fridays, 1pm).

We have also just opened a Safe Haven service, which provides out-of hours support for people who are experiencing emotional distress. Run in partnership with Vennture, the Safe Haven is open from 6pm to 11pm on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. You can refer yourself to Safe Haven or you can be referred by a professional, such as your GP.

IN2 Programme – Support Services for Young People 15-24 yrs

IN2 is a flexible programme for 15-24 year olds that offers support to help you plan and achieve your next steps. The aim of this programme is to help you to get the skills and confidence you need to make the right choices for you to go forward.

Marches Family Network and Allinteractive Marches Family Network delivers social projects, events and opportunities, throughout Herefordshire, for children and young people with disabilities. We aim to empower and include all disabled children and young people and their families in the county. We offer,

Do you like food? miEnterprise is a small social enterprise. You can just join us and learn more about cooking and how to make really nice food. But if you would like to do more we also support people with learning disabilities to make and sell different food products and earn some money. We all work together as a co-operative. We help with doing everything properly, managing money and working with Jobcentre so you can earn some money and keep all your benefits. We are based at Grange Court in Leominster where we have a 5 star catering kitchen that our members use. We also run a cafe, go to a local food market and deliver to local shops. We are a friendly club for supported enterprise.

Current activities focus on these skills: working with animals, land, bushcraft; cooking and catering; using numeracy and literacy; computers; arts and crafts; clay; textiles/sewing; woodwork; healthy living; morning club (activities in the community). We are also about to start a new group selling crafts at market.

Score Community Opportunities Score is a city-centre location supporting adults with learning disabilities to access activities, experiences and opportunities in the community that they may not be able to do without the right support. Score provides a sociable and safe environment for people to build their confidence and challenge themselves to reach new goals. With a range of activities chosen by the people we support, why not take advantage of a half- day free trial to see if we are the right fit for you? Staff support with a Person-Centred Active Support approach, meaning everyone who attends will develop new skills. And, as we are led by the people we support, people who attend grow in confidence at making choices.

Checklist for Herefordshire Activities Together Money Charges vary depending on what you are doing. Some activities are free. You need to check the cost and how to pay before you book with each activity provider. If you have a Personal Budget or Direct Payment you may use it to pay for activities or courses.

Food You will need to check with each provider what refreshments they provide and what you need to bring, some may make a charge for refreshments.

Transport A few activities provide transport please check with each provider. Generally you will need to find your own way to your chosen activity.

Personal support If you have personal care or support needs, you may need to bring your own support worker. Please check with your chosen provider.
