10 DAY KAFUE NATIONAL PARK & VICTORIA FALLS

The Kafue is one of Africa’s most overlooked parks, yet it contains incredibly diverse and plentiful game, especially in the areas close to camps on this trip. Birdlife is superb both in the Kafue and in Livingstone. A visit to the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls is included at the end making a truly memorable trip to Zambia.

Days 1, 2 and 3:

Depart and travel by road to Konkamoya Camp. Konkamoya is a family run safari lodge located on the shoreline of Lake Itzhi-Tezhi in southern Kafue and has just three chalets and 4 luxury tents. Activities include both day and night game drives, bush walks, boat safaris (motor boats and canoes). Visits to an elephant orphanage and local fishing communities can be arranged.

Days 4, 5 & 6: Game viewing transfer (3-4 hrs) to the Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp which is located in the remote and seldom visited southern sector of Kafue National Park. The area is best known for its lush woodlands of , Zambezi Teak and Mopane, the beautiful plains and the stream that runs through it, after which our lodge is named. Nanzhila Plains offers excellent opportunities to see the healthy populations of a number of species including Roan and Sable, Reedbuck, Defassa , , and Eland as well as all the major carnivores, with a particularly strong population of Wild Dog and . The birdlife is phenomenal throughout the year, and sightings can almost be guaranteed of the endemic Black-cheeked Lovebird, the Wattled Crane, Ground Hornbill and Saddle-billed Stork amongst others.

The raised, thatched Boma is situated under the shade of a huge Jackelberry Tree (African Ebony). It houses the lounge and dining area, bar and veranda, with a stunning and elevated view of the dambo. On the adjoining Kjope we have positioned our communal open-air fire place which is the focal point of the evening activities where guests can enjoy a warm fire, a cold drink, good fellowship and the sounds of the African night. The camp has beautifully appointed chalets and tents which offer uninterrupted views of the plains.

Days 7, 8 & 9:

Journey to Livingstone, where you stay at Waterberry Zambezi Lodge – a small, friendly and informal lodge just 30 minutes from Livingstone but in the heart of the wild. Located in a secluded position on the banks of the spectacular Zambezi River with wonderful views to the Zimbabwean game park on the opposite bank, Waterberry Zambezi Lodge has a range of comfortable accommodation. Most rooms have private decks overlooking the river or the private dam. Sundowners on the river are a highlight, but there are numerous activities offer (with 1 per day included in the price). Day 9 transfer to Livingstone Airport.
