n Christmas Day 2013, my family had the so-called “ Explosive Christmas.” On Othis day we had probably one of the most disastrous Christmas- es ever, but it is also a holiday that I will never forget. I think that this time is one of my most cherished memories of Christmas. The events of this Christmas are kind of like a bad dream. First, the whole day started with a bang (but not the cool bang with explosions). My entire family woke up late for church, so we were all rushing to get ready, and, therefore, we were not looking as snazzy as we would hope. Next, when we did finally make it to our church, the service that we normally go to was halfway over, so we had to wait and go to the late service. Since we didn’t make it to the early service, we could no longer go to breakfast, and we had to go to lunch. Because we had to go to lunch, we had to try and get home in time to start cooking dinner so it would be before midnight when we ate. When we finally got home, every- body is in a jolly mood. That is until I hear a blood-curdling scream that sent a chill down my spine. Immediately, I run into the living room to see my mom, dad, and grandma standing in front of me with horrified faces. (Nat- urally, I had to see what gave them shell shock). As I look past them, I see what looked like a storm front came through my living room. In front of me was the biggest mess I have ever seen in my entire life. On Christmas Eve night, my grand- ma had gone out to pick cattails for decoration, and in the process, she set them in front of the fire. Cattails explode when they dry out too quickly, and that is why my living room looked like a blizzard straight out of Antarcti- ca. My grandma, being the great mind that she is, grabbed a lint roller and got to work. After about 5 minutes of just her cleaning up, she looked up and asks why we are just standing there, so after giving it much thought, we decided it would be best if we helped too. We all grabbed lint rollers and started rolling, and after about 15 min- utes of cleaning, it was good enough. While some of us decided to start making dinner, others thought it was time to open presents. Therefore, half of us were making dinner, and the oth- er half of us were opening presents (which did not go over to well with my sister). This Christmas was one of my most cherished Christmases because there were so much humor and misfortune involved.
