1. MR. O. RAMOGAPI, MP. (PALAPYE): To ask the Minister of (348) Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism to state:

(i) total number of rhinos dehorned;

(ii) total number of horns and their weight;

(iii) the price of each horn per kilogram (kg) at market rate;

(iv) the total estimated value of rhino horns in Botswana;

(v) if Botswana intends to sell these horns; if not, why not; and

(vi) whether the horns are stored in a secure place.

1 2. MR. A. LESASO, MP. (SHOSHONG): To ask the Minister of Mineral (349) Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security if he is aware that:

(i) the non indigenous Batswana gas monopoly and large corporate entities of importers, retailers and distributors have and continue to push indigenous Batswana out of this lucrative business;

(ii) this cartel has squeezed out local indigenous businesses to foreclosure by applying underhand methods of competition;

(iii) one or two of the success stories we had were closed out because of control by the cartel monopoly gas businesses have on cylinders and valves through the Safety Association of Southern Africa (SASA) based in the Republic of South Africa; and

(iv) these non indigenous companies and corporations, through negative campaigns succeeded to discredit the valve and cylinders used by indigenous Batswana.

3. MS. T. MONNAKGOTLA, MP. (KGALAGADI NORTH): To ask the Minister (350) of Basic Education:

(i) which schools in Kgalagadi North have been identified to host sports competitions; and

(ii) when bathing showers will be constructed at the identified schools.

4. DR. U. DOW, MP (SPECIALLY ELECTED): To ask the Minister of (351) Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs:

(i) whether she accepts that citizenship is bestowed upon one by operation of the law of the country bestowing same and that it is unfair, inconvenient and distressing for one to be punished for acts that are not one’s own, as when it is found that an adult person did not renounce a citizenship, that in some cases one did not even know they had;

(ii) if she is aware that there are many people who were born with dual citizenship, have never sought to enjoy the other, but are now facing legal, educational, residence and other challenges associated with failing to renounce that other citizenship upon turning 21 years old; and

(iii) what legal and/or policy reforms she plans to initiate to solve this problem.

2 5. MR. J. L. THIITE, MP. ( NORTH): To ask the Minister of Land (352) Management, Water and Sanitation Services if he is aware that Ghanzi East Sub-District Council villages of Grootlagte, , Kuke, , East and , , Bere- have no Sub-Land Board servicing them; if so:

(i) whether this is not disadvantaging them as compared to other villages having a Sub-Land Board; and

(ii) has the Minister considered availing the required resources to establish this Sub-Land Board for Ghanzi East.

6. MR. P. MAJAGA, MP. (NATA-GWETA): To ask the Minister of (353) Agricultural Development and Food Security:

(i) if there is any budget to assist farmers affected by floods at Gweta and surrounding areas as water logging has caused food insecurity in the area; and

(ii) whether his Ministry has any plans to seek assistance from international organisations to assist farmers affected by floods.

7. MR. K. NKAWANA, MP. (SELEBI PHIKWE EAST): To ask the Minister of (354) Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development to apprise this Honourable House on initiatives to introduce and support youth talent and its sustenance, as well as businesses development.

8. MR. K. C. HIKUAMA, MP. (NGAMI): To ask the Minister of Health and (355) Wellness to brief this Honourable House on the state of kidneys and dialysis services in the country; and further state:

(i) the number of kidneys and dialysis centres in Botswana and their locations;

(ii) the number of those privately owned; and

(iii) whether or not Government has any intention to establish one in the North West Region.

9. DR. K. GOBOTSWANG, MP. (SEFHARE-RAMOKGONAMI): To ask the (357) Minister of Local Government and Rural Development:

(i) to update this Honourable House on his previous assurance that he will rationalise social protection programmes into five (5) streams; and

(ii) whether the exercise entails improvement of allowances or cash in kind for Village Development Committees (VDCs), old age pension, disability allowance, Ipelegeng and destitute allowance.

3 10. MR. T. LETSHOLO, MP. (KANYE NORTH): To ask the Minister of Health (358) and Wellness to state:

(i) the extent of illegal abortions in Botswana and associated reasons; and

(ii) the negative outcomes of illegal abortions.

11. MR. T. B. LUCAS, MP. (BOBONONG): To ask the Minister of Local (360) Government and Rural Development to state:

(i) whether the Children’s Act of 2009 is fully implemented;

(ii) whether all structures envisaged by the Act are in place;

(iii) the budget allocated to the National Children Council for each of the years it has been in existence and whether it is commensurate with the mandate of the council;

(iv) the number of functional Village Children Welfare Committees across the country as well as the number of non-functional or non-existent committees and the challenges, if any, for the absence of such;

(v) the average annual budget allocated to a Village Child Welfare Committee and if it is enough to carry out its mandate; and

(vi) if the Minister will consider employing more social workers in districts to ensure the full implementation of the Children’s Act of 2009.

12. MR. O. REGOENG, MP. (MOLEPOLOLE NORTH): To ask the Minister of (384) Health and Wellness to apprise this Honourable House on:

(i) the number of nurses and doctors in Botswana who on account of COVID-19 pandemic related complications have been in and out of isolation, quarantine, sick-leave and/or died between December 2020 and to date;

(ii) how has this affected public health service delivery in our health facilities; and

(iii) any intervention measures in place to avert or mitigate any possible interruptions, caused by COVID-19 phenomenon on smooth provision of health services in all public health facilities.
