Geordie Shore launches official online merchandise outlet ‘Geordie Store’

LONDON: 4th February, 2013 – MTV UK – a division of International Media Networks (VIMN) UK and Ireland - today announced the launch of ‘Geordie Store’; the official online merchandise outlet for the hit reality show ‘Geordie Shore’.

Jo Bacon, VP Marketing, MTV UK said: “Geordie Shore is the most successful show ever on MTV UK, with episodes from series three and four attracting over one million viewers. The show has over seven million social media followers, the cast have become celebrities in their own right and consequently their language and phrases have become part and parcel of everyday speech. So it is the perfect time for MTV to launch Geordie Store.”

The UK only online store will sit on the .co.uk website (www.mtv.co.uk/geordiestore) and will sell a range of merchandise including branded clothing, accessories and gifts. The items will feature the show’s famous trademark sayings and phrases such as ‘Worldie’ and ‘On it like a car bonnet’.

The mobile-optimised store has a ‘shopfront’ on the Geordie Shore Facebook page where social media fans of the show can browse the items before clicking through to the selling site.

New products will be available for pre-order in real-time alongside the live transmission of each episode of the reality format and the online store will be supported on air with a bespoke promo to tie in with the launch of series 5.

The site is built and managed by e-commerce business Sandbag, which will also handle product design, customer service and distribution.

The initiative marks an exciting phase of the Geordie Shore phenomenon which, having recently greenlit its fifth series, has broken records as MTV UK’s highest rating franchise ever, resulting in VIMN’s recent decision to air the hit show across all MTV international channels.

Initially a UK-only online store, the site is likely to be rolled out internationally complementing Geordie Shore’s international launch.
