Introduction

The following, bibliography including 695 items, is a continuation and an extension of previous bibliographies, such as: Kantebeen, T., Reenders, T., Hox, J., & Shye, S., Facet Theory: A Selected Bibliography, in Hox, J.J., Mellenbergh, G.J. and Swanborn, P.G. (Eds, 1995). Facet Theory Analysis and Design, p. 285; Guttmann R. & Goldzweig G., Facet Theory 1996 – 2001: A progress report, in Elizur D. (Ed) Facet Theory: Integrating Theory Constructions with Data Analysis (2001, pp 3-6); and Levy S. (Ed,) Louis Guttman on Theory and Methodology: Selected Writings (1994).

This bibliography is the result of an intensive internet search and lists, provided by FTA members, of their relevant publications. We hope that the bibliography will encourage additional colleagues to send their references in the future. Although this bibliography is the largest by far in this field, it is still incomplete.

In the meantime, the FT contributions are becoming very impressive. During the 60 years of its existence, we found 337 journal articles and 358 articles or chapters in books. On average, there are some 5 articles yearly since the beginning of Facet Theory in 1941.

During the last 13 years, this average has increased to 35.2 articles per year. This data indicates that Facet theory is beginning to be more and more accepted in the academic community. The following Table presents the number of publications every year from 1941 till 2003.

2 It may be informative to indicate the various journals in which FT researchers have published their works. The following list includes the journals which published FT papers most frequently. A full list of the journals that published FT papers is given as an Apendix at the end of the bibliography.
