2 B RETT’ S T WO C ENTS Hello everyone! This week as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving (admittedly, not in the way we all might have hoped!), I’m reminded of how crucial gratitude is for both our relationship with God and with one another. To be grateful is to acknowledge our need for the other, and to open ourselves to the grace brought by their presence in our lives. St. Thérèse of Lisieux has one of my favorite quotes about gratitude. I offer it for your reflection this week. Enjoy!

“What most attracts God’s grace is gratitude, because if we thank him for a gift, he is touched and hastens to give us ten more, and if we thank him again with the same enthusiasm, what an incalculable multiplication of graces! I have experienced this; try it yourself and you will see! My gratitude for everything he gives me is limitless, and I prove it to him in a thousand ways.” (from The Way of Trust and Love: A Guided Retreat by St. Thérèse of Lisieux, by Fr. Jacques Philippe)

Looking forward to seeing on Thursday morning those of you who can make it to our Thanksgiving Food Drive (Thru!).

Thanksgiving Prayer of Blessing

Loving God, we thank you this day for our many blessings, and we ask for the grace to be thankful even when times are hard. When we have plenty, help us to serve those who go without. When we are healthy, help us to care for those who are sick. When we have comfort, help us to comfort those who suffer. Thank you, God, for what we have, and please move us to compassion, prayer, and action to help those who are in need. Please bless all our loved ones who cannot be with us today, and bless us and the food we are about to receive. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pope John Paul II wanted to honor all the Vietnamese people who had faced danger to share the love of Jesus Christ. He named more than one hundred new Vietnamese , and set aside November 24th as a special day to remember all the other whose names have been lost to history — thousands of saints whose names we don't even know.

Quas Primas, the first thing. Today’s feast was established to remind S CRIPTURE R EADINGS us that Jesus Christ is our King, the Lord of our lives. That was in 1925…has it worked? I am going to suggest there are two kinds of Monday 23rd people as Jesus suggests in today’s gospel: people that know him and Rv 14: 1-3, 4b-5 | Lk 21: 1-4 those who don’t, “sheep and goats.” Which one are we? We are surviving a virus, a pandemic; we just survived a less-than-perfect Tuesday 24th election cycle. Never was there a better time for Jesus Christ to be our Rv 14: 14-19 | Lk 21: 5-11 King. Wednesday 25th I ask this of myself as well as you: Is Jesus my King? Do I go to Him Rv 15: 1-4 | Lk 21: 12-19 first in my allegiance, seeking to keep him as the center of my imperfect life, knowing that without Him, nothing else matters? On Thursday 26th this feast, let’s recommit ourselves to the Jesus who deserves all my Rv 18: 1-2, 21-23; 19: 1-3, 9a love, my life, my everything! Lk 21: 20-28 “Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door Friday 27th when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of Rv 20: 1-4, 11—21: 2 | Lk 21: 29-33 salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who Saturday 28th died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Rv 22: 1-7 | Lk 21: 34-36 Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Sunday 29th Savior. Amen.” Is 63: 16b-17, 19b; 64: 2-7 | 1 Cor 1: 3-9 Have a great weekend everybody. Advent is coming! + Mk 13: 33-37
