Firefox Portable Download Firefox portable download Continue Liz Jacobs Mozilla Firefox is a web browser similar to Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. The browser is part of the Mozilla app package. Firefox makes downloading movies simple because once you download, the window pops up, allowing you to immediately access the download. Downloading a movie in Firefox is very similar to downloading a movie in any other browser. However, the download window looks different because Firefox has its own unique browser interface. Go to sites like Netflix, Movie Downloads, #1 online movie Downloads, Joost or Hulu. (See Resources and Links). Subscribe to the site. Some sites offer a 30-day free trial. Some of these sites are completely free. Select the Films category. Click on the genre of film you want to see, such as comedy, drama or horror. Click on a specific movie that interests you. Click Download. Some sites, such as Hulu, do not include the download button. Their films are going online. To download them, go to a site like KeepVid, Video Loader or Vidimonkey. Copy the URL of the movie that you would like to download. Place the URL in the box on KeepVid, video uploader, or Vidmonkey. Click send and your movie will start downloading to your computer. Click on the file from the download window. Click the Open button. Your movie will start playing. Firefox user Asian Angel loves Portable Firefox for projects such as creating a Google Chrome clone, but you can also use it to run multiple, sandbox browser instances at the same time. What's the big idea? Well, it allows you to log in to multiple accounts in the same service (such as Gmail) in different windows, and run certain extensions and styles in one instance of the browser, but not the other. You already know how to create multiple Firefox profiles and even run them simultaneously, but with Portable Firefox you can easily back up time-minded installations and run them anywhere. Reader Asian Angel explains how she collected colorful Firefox six packages using a portable app. Last month Adam showed you six Firefox extensions that allow Chrome the best features, but today... MoreIt can be especially useful (or just fun) if you happen to be running a program like Yod'm 3D (the latest free version-fourth listing on the page) or you need to access multiple email accounts (such as Yahoo or Gmail, for example) at the same time. The good thing about using a portable is the ability to have a copy ready to go with all your extensions, settings, bookmarks, etc. intact if you have to make a fresh O.S. setup I try to back up my portable once a week. First, download a copy of portable Firefox if you don't have it yet. By setting up.01 Place the portable Firefox on your desktop temporarily until the changes to run multiple instances are complete. I renamed the installed Portable Firefox folder solely for the purposes of these these Name the folder that's best for you. Once this is done, expand the installed folder using Windows Explorer or the equivalent app (Cubic Explorer pictured here) and find the Source folder. Portable Firefox - another - source.03. Inside the Source folder, you'll find a file called FirefoxPortable.ini. This is a file that needs to be changed to run multiple copies. Note: This is also the place for the Readme.txt file, which gives detailed descriptions for each of the options in the FirefoxPortable.ini file and where it should be placed after the change.04. Using your favorite text editor (Editra pictured here) to open the file, you can now make the necessary changes. The first change will be in the AllowMultipleInstances option. The default option is false and should be changed to true. Note: Make sure the truth is a lower case only ... The second change refers to the handheld app spray screen and is optional. This is for those who don't want to see the screen display splash at launch. The default option for DisableSplashScreen is false and needs to be changed to true. Notes: Make sure the truth is a lower case here. It won't affect The Splash! expansion if you want to use it.07. Save the changes made to the FirefoxPortable.ini file. Once this is done, it's time to copy the FirefoxPortable.ini file to a new site.09. Insert the FirefoxPortable.ini file into the main folder where FirefoxPortable.exe is located (i.e. portable Firefox).10. Move the Firefox portable folder to the software files and create a shortcut to the FirefoxPortable.exe file. Find your new label wherever it's most convenient for you. Now you're ready to launch a new portable version along with your regularly installed version of Firefox and change it with extensions and themes at will. It won't have access to extensions or topics that are associated with your regular Firefox installation.Note: You won't be able to run multiple copies of your portable Firefox from the same folder in the program files. To run additional copies, make a copy of the folder and give it a different name. Create a new label to the new folder. Here's an example from my Vista SP1 computer. I have five portable versions running at the same time as my regularly installed version of Firefox. Pictured from left to right: Firefox 3.0.3 with light ThemeFirefox 3.0.3 styles with IE8FF ThemeFirefox 3.0.3 with Red Cats (Green Fragrance) ThemeBottom Row: Firefox 3.3. 30.3 with Chromifox ThemeIce Weasel 3.0 with Infinity Theme'Ice Weasel is a rebranded version of Firefox Firefox TraceMonkey 3.1 Beta with brilliant Fox ThemeThanks for detailed instructions, Asian angel-big work! Anyone who uses multiple instances of Firefox to share their roles or individual individual Desktops? Tell us about it in the comments. You'll run a few copies of Portable Firefox If you're tired of reading about Firefox 3 and want to try it yourself without letting go of your trusty Firefox 2 setup-head to PortableApps.com. These fast-on-the-draw people have released a portable, standalone edition of Firefox 3 RC 1 for your non-tech testing pleasure. Windows only: Eager to test all the new hotness in the beta version of Firefox 3, but don't want to scuff your perfect Firefox 2 setup? Web magazine Digital Inspiration points to an elegant solution: with the release of the long-awaited Firefox 3 looming just around the corner, we got our ... Read more often1. Download Firefox 3 Portable Edition. 2. Remove this Firefox 3 installer to some new folder like C: Firefox3 3. Close the Firefox 2 browser and run the FirefoxPortable.exe file available in the aforementioned folder. That's it. Portable apps are cool because you can run them on any machine with a flash drive. What's not cool is the annoying spike in screens that appear when apps run. Here's how to disable irritation. In this example, we use portable 1.6.1 version apps. Turn off Splash Screen in portable Firefox to disable splash Screen, open your computer, and double-click on a flash drive containing PortableApps. Now look at the next place... PortableApps-FirefoxPortable- Another source in this directory is the FirefoxPortable.ini file. Open this Notepad file... This ini file should look like the picture below. By default, the DisableSplashScreen-False line ... we just need to change the False to the True. Then make sure to keep the change... Now copy FirefoxPortable.ini file we just edited. Then go back to the main PortableApps and FirefoxPortable directory and insert it in there. That's all there is to it! Now that you run Portable Firefox, you don't have to wait until Splash Screen displays before you can start using it. If you ever want to go back to showing Splash Screen, all you have to do is remove FirefoxPortable.ini from PortableApps and FirefoxPortable. The process is essentially the same in other PortableApps as well. Just follow the steps shown above. For example, here we disable Splash Screen from KeePassPortable by going into the PortableApps flash drive and KeePassPortable - Another source and changing the KeePassportable.ini file for DisableSplashScreen to equal True. Save it ... Then copy it to the main catalog KeePassPortable ... If you're annoyed to see Splash Screen every time you launch a portable app, after these steps relieves irritation! Download PortableApps I prefer files downloaded directly to the desktop, but many people would prefer to download into a download folder, or a directory in a directory of documents. Changing this option option Very easy. Just open the tools and options and you should see the Download section right on the very first screen. Click the View button to select a new folder. You can also choose to let Firefox always ask you where to save the files and you can disable the Downloads box (which always annoys the crap out of me, so it's instantly disconnected on every Firefox installation) This article is just one of a series covering how to use Firefox. I guess it's not the brain for most geeks out there, but I want to create a good central repository of Firefox Tips, so simple articles like this are necessary. Firefox has been updated for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android. Firefox 24 isn't much different for desktop users, but Firefox for Android has received support from WebRTC talk.
