Cross-country skiing in the Kronplatz-Plan de Corones area

The Kronplatz region has more than 300 km prepared cross-country trails and is an El Dorado for cross-country skiers. It also belongs to the Dolomiti Nordicski association, Europe's largest cross-country skiing carousel with more than 1,300 km of trails in 13 different areas. Four of those are in the Kronplatz region: the Valle di Anterselva-Antholzer Tal, the Val Casies-Gsieser Tal, the Valli di Tures e Aurina-Tauferer Arntal region and also the village of S. Vigilio-St. Vigil.

Valle Anterselva-Antholzer Tal: Cross-country skiing trails ranging from 20 km to 60 km lead through snow-covered mountains across the frozen “Lago di Anterselva-Antholzer See” lake to the foot of the Passo Stalle-Staller Sattel mountain, where the Vedrette di Ries-Riesenferner Mountains in the background appear close enough to be touched. The valley also contains the famous Biathlon Centre with more than 60 km of excellently prepared trails. In 2020, the valley in the midst of the “Vedrette di Ries-Aurina/Riesenferner-Ahrn” nature park, holds the spectacular IBU World Championships Biathlon and attracts more than 60 000 biathlon enthusiasts. (12/02 - 23/02/2020 - www.biathlon-antholz.it) Val Casies-Gsieser Tal: The idyllic Val Casies-Gsieser Tal valley really is an insider tip for all cross-country skiing fans. The broad, sunny valley floor is ideal for arranging 40 km of cross-country skiing trails in winter. The trail crosses snow-covered fields and passes farm houses and inns directly on the trail, where you can enjoy a drink or a typical dish. The end of the valley past S. Maddalena-St. Magdalena will challenge cross-country skiers, but they will be rewarded with a stunning view across the valley. The Val Casies-Gsieser Tal Dumpling Marathon (12/01/2020) and the Gsieser Valley Run (15-16/02/2020) should not be missed.

Valli di Tures e Aurina-: 50 km variety along trail loops – embedded in the majestic structure of 80 mountains, all with a height above 3000 metres! In the idyllic Riva-Rein high-altitude village within the nature park area, 4 different trails ranging from 3 km to 15 km with different levels of difficulty are maintained at a height of 1 600 m. The 16 km long Mühlwald-Lappach trail starts at the Meggima restaurant at the Mühlwald lake and leads across meadows and fields and past mountain farms up to Lappago-Lappach. Rio Bianco-Weißenbach is a mountain pasture and family village at an altitude of 1300 m and attracts locals as well as guests with its 10 km long trail that covers a total altitude range of 110 m. This quartet of high-altitude tracks is rounded off by the impressive panorama of the facility in Kasern and Hl. Geist at the rear end of the valley.

S. Vigilio-St. Vigil: The 24 km long trail, which can be used free of charge, starts directly at the edge of the S. Vigilio-St. Vigil village and meanders through the valleys and snow-covered mountain meadows of the Fanes-Sennes- nature park in the foothills of the Dolomite mountains. There is no need to handle the entire trail in one go: It is arranged in several rings that always offer the option of going back to S. Vigilio-St. Vigil. The different lengths of the trails allow all cross-country skiers, beginners as well as advanced athletes and professionals, to enjoy the optimal conditions and the beautiful panorama of the Dolomite mountains. Additional trails are provided in S. Martino in Badia-St. Martin in Thurn, between the villages of Brunico/Bruneck-S. Stefano/Stefansdorf- Riscone/Reischach, Terento/Terenten-Falzes/Pfalzen and in Valdaora/Olang. The high-altitude trail on the Passo delle Erbe-Würzjoch mountain is a cross-country skiing highlight.
