Antecedent: -developing plans are ready for the North-South Railway, the licensing plans of developing stations and body of railroad of Budapest- Szentendre lane are ready, as well as the developing plans of information system -in agglomeration the water traffic is a competitive mode of transport, a detailed plan of project developing infrastructure and services is done by Mahart Passnave for lane Szentendre-Budapest-Százhalombatta -EuroVelo bicycle road got ready in 2007 by Danube, information system development in 2009 -appointing the place of P+R parking lot (parking lot of Kaisers’ and Rózsakert) -extension of P+R parking lot at Kaisers’ with 53 places in 2010 -establishing Skanzen bus terminal in P+R parking lot Rózsakert in 2010 -commercial development in the region: Pannon Corso shopping centre – licensing plans in 2010 Aim: Improving the traffic of Danube region, closing up the sustainable mobility of region, keeping residents on spot, improving traffic connections, helping commercial connections 2 EDS – European Danube Strategy Szentendre intermodal centre Reasonableness: The terminal of HÉV is the transferring spot for residents of Danube band and Pilis mountains. About 27.000 people of all 78.000 inhabitants of the region shuttles day by day to the capital. Added to this usage, while the region attracts many tourists, comes the traffic induced by tourists. More and more shuttlers go by car, making huge stress on environment meanwhile the main road 11 comes unusable during rush-hours. Based on these tendencies and on counting the traffic, we can already see that the terminals of HÉV and Volanbus have tight capacity and pretty low quality of services. The solution is in all-round development, the accessibility of the region can be increased by raising the quality of traffic services. Higher number of visitors will induce establishing of new accommodation supply and services built on historic, cultural, architectural and natural facilities of the region. This project improves the public transport opportunities of the region and supplying information, so we expect visitors coming to us who could not access the city till now. In the development conception of Central Hungary tourism is a central question. The project fulfilled in Szentendre Region will be a model impacting every touristic development in Central Hungary, experiences of the project will be used in decisions of similar investments. We expect the tourism to freshen economy and labour market.
