DOLOMITES GOURMET (7-NIGHT STAY) . In addition to its spectacular, unique mountain landscape, the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a rich and varied culinary tradition. South Tyrolean cuisine combines the simplicity of good, down-to-earth mountain fare with the Mediterranean lightness of Italian cooking. During your stay, you will not only get to know some of the most beautiful spots in the Dolomites, but will also meet some of their most authentic characters - people who share our love of regional, organic and sustainable gourmet experiences, whilst offering a trailblazing new take on South Tyrolean cuisine. This is our tour for all those wishing to discover and really savour - in the true sense of the word - both the scenic and the culinary diversity of our home region. from € 1.197,00 / person Day 1: Individual arrival and check-in at your accommodation Arrival and check-in at our family-run hotel in the Pragser Tal valley. Private transfer from the airport/station can be booked separately on request. Day 2: Plätzwiese plateau, organic farm and refined fruit We begin the week in the Pragser Tal valley. Our first hike takes us from the famous Plätzwiese plateau on to the Strudelkopf mountain, where we will take in the spectacular panoramic views before heading for lunch in a typical alpine hut, at 2000 m above sea level. In the afternoon, we can then expect to indulge our love of regional cuisine and premium quality products at two more very special locations. First, we visit Alpe Pragas, a company that processes and refines fruit into premium quality, exclusive end products with no artificial additives, aromas, colouring or conserving agents. Then we visit a typical South Tyrolean farm with its own farm cheesery. Here we see for ourselves how the farm's own milk is processed into a raw milk cheese that has won several awards. Day 3: Gourmet bunker, with cheese & craft beer tasting Day 3 takes us to the Bruneck/Brunico region. We begin in the morning with an easy but beautiful hike from a wonderful starting point. For the afternoon, a tasting is planned in the gourmet bunker. This bunker in natural stone - a relic of the two world wars - now serves as a place for ripening and storing the best traditional South Tyrolean and international raw milk cheese specialities. We meet the master cheesemaker and beer sommelier, who will spoil us in the unique atmosphere of the bunker by allowing us to taste the various cheeses matured there, as well as selected craft beer varieties. Day 4: Pragser Wildsee lake We start the day at the Pragser Wildsee lake, and hike from there via the Schwarzberg mountain to the traditional Grünwaldalm refuge at 1590 m, where we can savour the atmosphere of a real alpine pasture, as well as a delicious lunch. The afternoon can be spent at the Pragser Wildsee lake, before we enjoy an evening meal consisting of home-made farm produce at its source on a local farm. Day 5: A day at your leisure This day is free, for you to do as you wish. We have put together some suggestions for all those wanting to take home even more unforgettable experiences. Our personal tip: a trip to the city of Bozen/Bolzano, including a wine cellar visit, with wine-tasting. > To the optional extras Day 6: Hike to the Jora refuge and pasta-cooking course " Pasta on the rocks" is not only the title of a book, but the personal philosophy of Markus Holzer, the well-known TV chef and author of this and several other books. At the restaurant Jora Mountain Dining, in the heart of the Drei Zinnen Nature Park at 1325 m above sea level, he will welcome us for an exclusive pasta-cooking course. Here we will have the chance to stand right next to him in the kitchen, and learn how to prepare special pasta dishes. Markus will show us the craftsmanship that transforms a pasta creation into a miniature work of art. He will also tell us of his passion for premium quality, natural ingredients, as well as the interplay of colours and shapes that makes his pasta creations so special. And we will of course taste and savour our own pasta specialities afterwards. After a short hike to San Candido/Innichen, we will then immerse ourselves in the history, geology, flora and fauna of the Dolomites. Day 7: Panoramic views on the Kronplatz What awaits you on the last day of the trip are the spectacular panoramic views to be had from the Kronplatz mountain, one of South Tyrol's most beautiful viewing points. After an easy hike, we will enjoy both lunch and the breathtaking views from 2275 m above sea level, at the AlpiNN - Food Space & Restaurant, designed and managed by the 3-star chef Norbert Niederkofler. At the LUMEN Museum of Mountain Photography, we can then plunge into the fascinating world of the mountains. Located in the former mountain cable car station on the Kronplatz mountain, the museum provides an insight into the history of mountain photography from its origins to the present day, with an exhibition covering a total of 1800 mon four floors.
