Jack L sings songs of Jacques Brel at The National Concert Hall with special guest Sharon Shannon in special weekend of concerts

Jack L, aka Jack Lukeman, one of Ireland’s finest and best-loved performers bring his specially devised show ‘Chez Jack L – The Songs of Jacques Brel’ to The National Concert Hall on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 November 8pm.

Described as a ‘deep-voiced rock singer/songwriter’, Jack L’s renditions of the songs of Jacques Brel are renowned. In 2004, spurred on by participation in an unreleased documentary on the Belgian crooner, Jack L created a show around the signer and called it ‘Chez Jack L …Love, Sex, Death and Brel’.

Following in the footsteps of Brel’s famous lifelong accordion player Jean Conti will be Ireland’s own superstar accordion virtuoso Sharon Shannon who will be making a very special guest appearance in the show and adding the quintessential accordion sounds to classics such as Jacky and Port of .

Lukeman’s dark and smooth tones have been mesmerising audiences since 1995, when he and his then backing band, The Black Romantics, took up residence at Dublin’s The Da Club. Since going solo in 1999, Lukeman has released nine albums and a best of... collection to great acclaim. Since then he’s performed with and supported with such luminaries as U2, Nick Cave, Page and Plant, Pat McCabe and Craig Armstrong.

“Blending theatricality, magic and phenomenal vocal power, Lukeman offers an aural experience that’s dazzling, dizzying – and unlike anything else out there”.
