Dear Potential Sponsor,
American Sign Language (ASL) is at the heart of Deaf communities everywhere in the United States. The Deaf community is a cultural group sharing a common language and rich heritage. The Deaf community is a large minority within the mainstream and includes deaf people with all levels of hearing loss, family members of Deaf people, sign language interpreters plus people working and socializing with Deaf people with the strongest connection binding this community together is a shared visual language.
National ASLTA, American Sign Language Teachers Association is an organization safeguarding the language heritage and pushing for excellence in teaching ASL to people of all ages, both to second language learners and to deaf people. National ASLTA provides different support to the teaching and research community such as a national certification system, continuing education opportunities, collaboration with state ASLTA chapters, and an eNewsletter.
Salt Lake City will be the host for the 2017 biennial National ASLTA conference June 28- July 1, 2017, at the SLC Marriott Downtown at City Creek, welcoming prominent educators, linguists, and ASL professionals from all over Utah and the United States.
