Clasificación UNESCO 5701.06 Fecha 2015-06-04 6 7 EL CANON OCULTO La literatura de América Latina y el Caribe en la transposición al ecosistema digital D ESCRIPCIÓN Resumen El presente trabajo tiene como objeto de estudio la acción de la indus- tria editorial en digital en el marco de la transposición a formato digital de los títulos de un corpus literario latinoamericano y caribeño que incluye a los autores que Harold Bloom marca como segmento latinoamericano del canon occidental y los aportados por las teorías críticas feministas, queer, poscoloniales / decoloniales. Se analizan las principales plataformas de venta de ebooks y las principales bibliotecas digitales y se comparan en ellas las ofertas de dichos títulos y autores en soporte papel y en formato digital. Abstract This paper aims to study the action of the digital publishing industry in the context of the transposition into digital format of the titles of a Latin American and Caribbean literary corpus which includes authors such as Harold Bloom brand Latin American segment of the Western canon, and those provided by theories produced by feminist criticism, queer, postcolo- nial / decolonial in the context of the action of digital publishing industry.     INTRODUCTION For several reasons, Poui No. 6 seems like a very special issue: there are contributions from 31 writers, more than we have had in any of the previous issues, and as a consequence, this issue runs to 132 pages, the biggest yet. I do not have the impression that there were more submissions this year than in the past, but there certainly was more material of a quality suitable for inclusion, and this is certainly very gratifying for the editors who have to read all the submissions. There is a nice balance, in this issue, of poetry and prose fiction, with ten items in the latter category, accounting for about 50 out of the 114 pages of submitted material published – almost half. In addition most of the prose pieces (by Velma Pollard, Chip Livingstone, Debra Providence, Krishna Ramsumair, Robert Schmid and George Sammy) are powerful and very moving. As in recent years, we must thank our regular and committed contributors for continuing to send us their work; it is these faithful contributors who keep the annual publication going, although the exposure of their work is not as great as we all would like – many copies of past issues remain piled in the departmental store-room and we would welcome ideas and suggestions about how the publication might be more widely and more effectively marketed. We also welcome the fair number of new voices heard in Poui for the first time this year: we hope you will continue to support the publication with your contributions in coming years. Another reason why this issue is special is because we are privileged to include a recent poem by our own beloved Kamau Brathwaite, who has graciously served as Editorial Consultant to Poui from the first issue and who has kindly agreed to be our ‘Featured Poet’ in this issue.

How many of the scholars we solicited answered that the unexpected demands of remote teach- ing, or the obligations of home schooling, or any other unusual responsibilities caused by Covid-19 made it impossible for them to write a review? And how many reviewers balked at (while others kindly acquiesced to) the new practice of many publishers sending out review copies exclusively in digital form?     Poui X – FROM THE EDITORS A tenth anniversary is a milestone and you are holding it in your hands. Poui: Cave Hill Journal of Creative Writing reaches its tenth issue as a leading journal for new writing from around the region and beyond. In 1999, Creative Writing, both Poetry and Fiction, was a new offering of the Department of Language, Linguistics and Literature (LLL) at Cave Hill, and Poui was seen as an outlet for the some of the writing emerging from its courses and the summer workshops led by well-known Caribbean writers, whose contributions set a standard for the many aspiring writers Poui also published. Those workshop leaders included Lorna Goodison (Jamaica), whose poem ‘Poui’ is the frontispiece to every issue, Grace Nichols (Guyana), Erna Brodber (Jamaica), Kendal Hippolyte (St Lucia), Merle Collins (Grenada) and Olive Senior (Jamaica). Over time, Poui established itself as the natural successor to the small magazines which nurtured the early growth of Caribbean writing – Bim, Kyk-over-al, The Beacon, etc. – to the extent that Georgetown-based arts critic, Al Creighton, commented in the Stabroek News in 2007 that ‘the best pieces in the collection define(d) Poui 7, lifting it to its place as a journal of high quality’ and showed that it had come of age as a regional literary journal. An occasional tradition Poui has maintained since issue 4 is that of Featured Writer, which allows us to turn the spotlight on a writer whose work deserves special attention. In issue 4, it was the Vincentian-born poet/jazz musician Shake Keane (1927 – 1997), who won the prestigious Cuban Casa de las Americas Prize for poetry in 1979 for his collection One A Week With Water: Notes and Rhymes.
