He recorded two versions of Bach’s great composition—once in 1955 and again in 1981. It is a testament to Gould’s genius that he could record the same piece of music twice—so differently, yet each version brilliant in its own way. Glenn Gould— A State Of Wonder brings together both of Gould’s legendary performances of The Goldberg Variations for the first time in a deluxe, digitally remastered, 3-CD set. Sony Classical celebrates the 70th anniversary of Glenn Gould's birth with a collection of limited edition CDs. This beautifully packaged collection contains the cornerstones of Gould’s career that marked him as a genius of our time. Crazy in love with Marie, the young peasant Tonio engages in the battalion to see her every day. When the Marquise of Berkenfield reveals the true identity of Mary, who is her daughter, the young woman could be separated forever from Tonio. Acclaimed by the lyric press, South African soprano Pretty Yende returns to the stage of the Met opposite the tenor Javier Camarena for an opera of great vocal virtuosity under the baton of Enrique Mazzola. The alchemist Donizetti's expertise once again acts with this unique blend of melancholy and joy. Tenor Javier Camarena and soprano Pretty Yende team up for a feast of bel canto vocal fireworks—including the show-stopping tenor aria “Ah! Mes amis … Pour mon âme,” with its nine high Cs. Alessandro Corbelli and Maurizio Muraro trade off as the comic Sergeant Sulpice, with mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe as the outlandish Marquise of Berkenfield. Download L'occasione Fa Il Ladro

STAATSPHILHARMONIE: 3. Philharmonisches Konzert, PM Vom 14.01.2020
Kontakt: Pressestelle Staatstheater Nürnberg E-Mail: [email protected] Tel.: +49 (0)911 66069 3509 PRESSEMITTEILUNG 14. Januar 2020 3. -

Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868) Italian, Ingenious, Inspired
Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868) Italian, ingenious, inspired. Gioachino Rossini occupied an unrivalled position in the Italian musical world of his time, winning considerable success relatively early in his career. He was the first of the great 19th century Italian opera composers and brought opera into the public consciousness and even today his music still rings true. Rossini had already written ten operas before he was 21, and eventually composed 39 major stage works, though in his last thirty years he wrotcve nothing new. He did try to become a composer of serious operas, but it will always be his comic operas, The Barber of Seville (8.553436) and Cinderella (8.660191-92) that his fame will rest. Label Cat.
