1.0 RULES

The series will be governed by the current rules as defined in the:  Appendix A of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2017-20 as modified by the Sailing Instructions.  Australian Special Regulations Part 1 apply as for a Category 7 event.  The Rules of the S80 Association of WA (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions)  Each participating yacht club Sailing Instructions as listed in item 7.0.

2.0 ADVERTISING

2.1 As boats are supplied by the competitors the advertising category of the S80 Class shall apply. 2.2 Boats shall not be permitted the right to protest for breaches of any rules regarding advertising. (Amends RRS 60.1).

3.0 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The series is open to boats of the S80 class that have skippers who are: a) Owners of S80 yachts who are skipper financial members of the S80 Yacht Association of WA, or b) Non-owners of S80 yachts who are alternate skipper financial members of the S80 Yacht Association of WA, or c) Other non-owners of S80 yachts as the committee of the S80 Yacht Association of WA in their absolute discretion may determine. 3.2 A substitute helmsman shall be a regular member of the boat’s crew and a financial ‘alternate skipper’ as prescribed in the 2018-19 schedule of subscriptions for membership of the S80 Yacht Association of WA,

3.3 Eligible boats are required to enter using the attached Entry Form which shall be lodged with the S80 Yacht Association of WA by 17:00 Monday 17th September 2018 in accordance with the instructions on the Entry Form.

3.4 Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the committee of the S80 Yacht Association of WA.

4.0 FEES

No additional fees are payable for this event.

6.0 MEASURMENT

6.1 Boats and sails shall comply with the Class Rules of the S80 Yacht Association of WA and have been measured and accepted by the appointed Association Measurer.

6.2 Measurement of new sails shall be by appointment with the Measurer and not later than 17th September 2018.

7.0 REGATTA SITE & SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

7.1 For Race 1 the regatta site will be East Fremantle Yacht Club, Petra Street, East Fremantle WA. The sailing instructions will be the general sailing instructions contained in the East Fremantle Yacht Club 2018/19 sailing program.

7.2 For Race 2 the regatta site will be Nedlands Yacht Club, The Esplanade, Nedlands, WA. The sailing instructions will be the general sailing instructions contained in the Nedlands Yacht Club 2018/19 sailing program

7.3 For Race 3 the regatta site will be South of Perth Yacht Club, Coffee Point, Applecross, WA. The sailing instructions will be the general sailing instructions contained in the South of Perth Yacht Club’s 2018/19 “Red Book”.

7.4 For Race 4 the regatta site will be Royal Perth Yacht Club, Australia II Drive, Crawley, WA. The sailing instructions will be the general sailing instructions contained in the Royal Perth Yacht Club’s 2018/19 “Red Book”.

7.5 For Race 5 the regatta site will be the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, Keanes Point, Peppermint Grove, WA. The sailing instructions will be the general sailing instructions contained in the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club’s 2018/19 sailing program.

7.6 For Race 6 the regatta site will be Mounts Bay Sailing Club, Australia II Drive, Crawley, WA. The sailing instructions will be the general sailing instructions contained in the Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club’s 2018/19 sailing program.

7.7 Sailing Instructions will be found on the website of each respective club prior to each race.

9.0 COURSES

Where required, courses will be distributed by email to all nominated skippers prior to each event.

10.0 SCORING

10.1 Scoring shall be in accordance of low points scoring system appendix A.

10.2 Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

10.3 When fewer than four races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her scores.

10.4 When from four to six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her scores excluding her worst score.

10.5 The Metropolitan Championship Series will be scored as a stand-alone event with results not forming part of the season’s point scores.

10.6 For Consistency results, the Handicaps will be calculated for all races. Handicaps from the end of last season will be carried over for the first race of the series and updated after each race is completed.

10.7 The yacht finishing in first place of the overall Championship series will be ineligible to win a Consistency series placing.

11. PRIZES

11.1 Pennants may be awarded by the relevant club for each race

11.2 The Championship and Consistency winners of the overall series will have their names attached to the S80 Association of WA Metropolitan Championships perpetual trophy to be presented at the 2018/19 Prize Night.

12. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

12.1 All boats shall carry VHF radios for emergency use only. Any boat requiring such assistance during the event shall signal the Race Committee using the VHF Channel published in the relevant Sailing Instructions.

12.2 A boat shall neither make radio transmission while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

13. DISCLAIMER

13.1 All those taking part in the event do so at their own risk. The Organising Authority, its associates and appointees accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience incurred, however caused.

13.2 Attention is also drawn to RSS Fundamental Rule 4 which states “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.”

14. INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $10,000,000 per event or the equivalent.

ENTRY DECLARATION I agree to be bound by the racing rules of the ISAF and by all other rules that govern the regatta and I acknowledge that rule 4 – Decision to Race, places the sole responsibility for a boat deciding to participate in a race or to continue racing as hers alone.

I agree to indemnify the Organising Authority, its associates and appointees from accepting any responsibility for material damage or personal injury or death or inconvenience sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta. I confirm that the boat is covered by third party insurance cover of no less than AU$10,000,000 for any one incident.
