IFF - Office Report

Appendix 9 Question: Meeting with European Master Association

Report on Based on the IFF CB decision from I had a meeting with the present issues EMSA treasurer Mr. Torsten Carlius, during the IAAF Championships in Helsinki 9.8.2005. In the meeting he informed of the newly founded European Master Association and the upcoming EMSA in 2008 in Glasgow. EMSA is very interested of getting into the games together with the other 15 already cleared (, Table , , Cycling, , , Athletics, , , , Shooting, , and Weight lifting. They are also discussing with , Boule, , /Budo, , Chess and . They are trying to organise an event with around 10.000 athletes. The EMSA is a continental confederation of the International Master Games Association.

Upcoming It is for the CB to decide if IFF would like to take part in the EMSA Games in meetings and 2008. In the master events it is not the national teams, but anyone can take issues part, according to the decisions of the international federation. If we want to take part we need to fulfil the following requirements: • Members of EMSA (not neceserily of IMGA) • Sanction by IFF to allow EMSA to organise the event • Local organiser, i.e. club or federation • Tournament under IFF rules • Agree upon the age levels if needed • Technical delegate from IFF The basic idea is that the participation fee for each participant is 150-200 €. The EMSA is organising its second General assembly in Frankfurt on October 22nd. The deadline for registration for the sport in Glasgow is by end of June 2006.

Issues that need 1. IFF membership application in EMSA and to be discussed participation in Glasgow 2008 or decided 2. IFF membership application in IMGA upon 3. IFF time table for acting towards EMSA

New ideas, We need to inform the different national associations that there is a possibility etc… to take part in this event. If IFF is interested to start speaking with the British Association.

With kind regard,

John Liljelund general secretary
