Covering more than 4,800 high schools and 400,000 student-athletes, The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Chapter Network distributes nearly $1 million in scholarships each year during its award season. At the events, more than 3,300 student-athletes accept recognition for their combined excellence on the gridiron, in the classroom, and as leaders in the community. Many chapters also pay tribute to notable individuals who have made significant contri- butions to the sport, their local communities or the nation. New Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley stopped by the luncheon to give Chapter President Dick Williams (left) presents the Distinguished an update on the 2010 Volunteer squad. General Stiner, a native Tennessean, is a retired United States Army four-star general who served as Commander in Chief, United States Special Operations Command from 1990 to 1993. Carson-Newman College (Tenn.) head coach Ken Sparks (right) receives Dick Williams presents the Contribution to Amateur Football Award to the Robert R. Neyland Award given for contributions to intercollegiate Terry Brown, who was a 4 year starter at UT before an injury shortened athletics. The award is named for General Robert Neyland, the College NFL career. Brown now serves as an NFL official and field judge. Football Hall of Fame coach and athletic director from Tennessee.
