10 GRAPE addresses the agricultural and food robotics market , in particular, the market of instruments for biological control by developing the tools required to execute vineyard monitoring and farming tasks with (semi) autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs)
Two agricultural tasks which • Autonomously perform grapes and foliage have high and proven impact inspection in vineyards with UGVs. If a problem is on the growth of the vineyards detected, the agronomist can teleoperate the required analysis. • Application of pheromone dispensers to protect the grapevine from the grape moths, by way of mating disruption. UGVs travel the vineyard, select target plants, and, by means of an onboard manipulator lightly slide on, or twist around,
deploy the dispenser on the branches 11 Ground Robot for vineyArd monitoring and ProtEction

12 Consorci
GRAPE covers the entire value chain involving a university, a technology centre, a SME specialized on the specific market and proven interest from wine producers
13 VITIROVER
A tractor-robot with its embedded software and different tools - Permanent work in an area bounded by GPS coordinates, - Solar energy autonomy, - Small size, low weight, no risk of damage.
Structured around: - A solar panel and Li-Ion batteries, - A centimetric GPS receiver, - WiFi / Bluetooth / GPRS. 14 Objectives
• Development of a robotic platform for vineyard applications • able to navigate on rough terrains • to detect and monitor plants • and to manipulate small objects such as the pheromone dispensers • Increase robot acceptance by farmers and agronomists • user interface is kept as simple as possible moving the complexity to the control system and making the platform as autonomous as possible • maintain a regular contact with stakeholders on the field among which winegrovers such as D.O. Penedès, Rotari in Italy and Château Coutet Saint-Emilion in France, among others
15 Vineyard Navigation • Advanced capabilities for vineyard navigation • 6DoF localization and 3D mapping • Path planning considering terrain characteristics (safety) and kinodynamic constraints (feasibility)
16 Plant Health Moniroting • Advanced perception capabilities for plant detection and monitoring: • Detection of plants in highly unstructured and geometric reconstruction as basis for the manipulation tasks • Assessment of crop condition in realistic conditions for early detection of problems
17 Dispenser deployment • Dispenser manipulation and deployment: • Approaching a branch using visual servoing, manipulating the dispenser and executing the task required to lightly twist it around the branch
• Dispensers will be stored on the robot
18 Easy robot interface
• Enable robot teleoperation and telecommand to control the system providing different autonomy modes, • Syncrhonization of data and integration onto VITIROVER UI and FMI’s
