How many drinks will we need? Allow for one drink per hour per guest, more or less depending on your guests' drinking habits.

Questions to consider…. The Party…. What day of the week is the party? What time is the party? Morning, afternoon, evening How many hours will the party run? Will there be transportation, or will people be driving? Will there be dancing or other activities? Are you serving food? Complete meal or snacks Will you be serving wine with the meal or on the table? Cash or open bar? Will there be a champagne toast?

Who is attending? Light , Average or Big drinkers

Where are they from? Keep in mind that you are at high altitude. It is estimated that one drink at high altitude will have the same effects on the body at two to three drinks taken at sea level.

Number of servings…

Wine and champagne 750 ml of wine yields 5 Servings. 1.5 liter bottles that will yield 10 servings. 750 ml of champagne will yield 6 flute glasses.

Spirits A 750 ml bottle of spirits yields 17 Servings of 1 ½ oz. each. Most spirits can be found in a 1.75 bottle and will yield 40 drinks. You will need three bottles of mix for every bottle of spirits in a comparable size. Consider… Whiskey (bourbon, scotch, rye, Canadian) Rum Liquors and after dinner drinks

A domestic and microbrewed beer A keg (1/2 barrel) contains 15.5 gallons and yields 166 12-ounce cups. A pony keg (1/4 barrel) contains 7.75 gallons and yields 83 12-ounce cups. A pencil keg contains 5 gallons and yields 53 12-ounce cups.

Imported beer Kegs are sized differently, with a half-barrel containing 10.7 gallons and yielding 114 12-once cups. Note: Domestic taps may not fit an imported keg.

For garnishes, you will need olives, cocktail onions, sliced oranges, maraschino cherries, celery sticks, sliced lemons and limes.

The glassware: There are four kinds of glasses that you may need: a multi-purpose wine glass, a tall tumbler glass for all mixed drinks, a 10-once glass for beer and flutes for champagne. You should have at least one of each glass per guest, plus a few extras to spare. Make sure to add extras of tumblers for people who may want a variety of drinks and for guests who drink non-alcoholic beverage after drinking alcoholic beverages.

Note: It is your party. While you will want to please everybody by offering their favorite beverage, know that you do not have to have every brand of liquor on hand. A rum drinker will drink whatever rum you offer, a beer drinker will drink what you have and still enjoy the party.
