Overview

Ryan Weiss represents plaintiffs and defendants in all types of commercial litigation. Ryan joined Susman Godfrey after clerking for Judge Michael Daly Hawkins of the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Judge Mark E. Walker of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

Ryan is currently serving alongside partners Tom Paterson, Randy Wilson, and Ashley McMillian as counsel to American global independent energy company, , in Hess Corporation v. Schlumberger Technology Corporation. The case, tried before U.S. District Judge Sim Lake in February 2020, involves Schlumberger’s delivery to Hess of four subsurface safety valves that later failed in deepwater wells in the . Hess alleges that these safety valves did not conform to requirements set out in the parties’ contract, ultimately causing $218 million in damages. Not only does Ryan serve an integral role on the trial team, but his “excellent” briefing was applauded during trial. The case is still pending.

Ryan graduated magna cum laude from Duke University School of Law, where he was the Managing Editor of the Duke Law Journal, and graduated cum laude from the University of Florida.
