Our Resident Company includes two outstanding professionals with extensive theatre training, and twelve student actors, actresses, and technicians to perform and work with St. Edward's University faculty on the three summer theatre productions. Student talent was selected on the basis of auditions and interv iews and were chosen because of their talent, training and experience. Mark Landis, Stage Director for "YOU KNOW I CAN;T HEAR YOU WHEN THE WATER'S RUNNING," is a St. Edward's University Assistant Professor of Theatre and Voice & Diction coach for all the Mary Moody Northen Theatre productions. Mr. Landis has directed the productions of "COMPANY OF WAYWARD SAINTS," "MAN FOR ALL SEASONS," "THE WALL BE­ TWEEN," and "TARTUFFE" with Graham Jarvis . Mr . Landis holds an MFA degree from Western Illinois University with an em­ phasis in Directing. He has worked extensively in both regional and Summer Stock throughout the Mid-West . In 1978, he became Director of Educational programs for the Repertory Theatre in St. Louis, where he taught workshops in Acting, Voice and Movement. Mr. Landis will appear in the production "WHEN YOU COMIN' BACK RED RYDER?" as Clark.

James Daniels is the Stage Director for the production "WHEN YOU CO MIN' BACK RED RYDER." Jim has worked as a pro­ fessional actor at such theatres as Missouri Repertory Theatre, the Asolo State Theatre, the Oregon Shakespearian Festival and the Houston Shakespearian Festival, performing such roles as Ver­ shinin in "THREE SISTERS," Hal Carter in "PICNIC," and Prospero in "THE TEMPEST ." He is also the author of his own one-man show "SAM HOUSTON: STANDING IN HIS OWN BLOOD," which has recently been added to the touring division of shows sponsored by the Texas Commission on the Arts. Jim previously taught Voice and Movement within the MFA pro­ gram at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and presently teaches Voice and Acting at the University of Texas at Austin. His own MFA degree comes from the Florida State University/Asolo Theatre of Professional Actor Training. Jim has recently appeared in the Mary Moody Northen Theatre productions of "" as Rev . Hale and "TAR­ TUFFE" as Orgon, "THE GOOD DOCTOR," "A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS," and "THE HOLLOW."

Donald W. Seay , Stage Director for the production "COME BLOW YOUR HORN,'' is an Associate Professor and the Director of Th eat re at St. Edward's University. Mr. Seay has appeared on the Northen stage as in "MAN FOR ALL SEASONS" and as Rubin in "DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS." He has directed the productions of "SUMMER AND SMOKE," "THE GOOD DOCTOR," "CAMELOT," "FINISHING TOUCHES," and "" which were highly praised by the guest artists involved and considered to be outstand­ ing artistic successes. Before coming to St. Edward's University, Mr. Seay served as a tenured professor at the University of Wyom­ ing . He has also taught at the University of Minnesota and Gustavus Adolphus College . His professional credits include work with the McCarter Theatre, the Alley Theatre, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and the Erie Playhouse. Mr. Seay holds an MFA degree from the University of Minnesota and has completed all the work for i,;~ doctorate except the dissertation. GUEST ARTISTS

Laurel Barnett is making her fourth ap pearance onstage in Texas. Previously she co-starred in " The · Sound of Music" at the Fiesta Dinn er Playhouse in San Antonio and "Boeing-Boeing" at the Hayloft Dinner Theatre in Lubbock. Most recently she was featured at Houston's Texas Renaissance Festival as Lady Godiva (in a rare display of her 3 1/2 feet of hair!). An unusually versati le performer , Laurel enjoys an extraordinary character range spanning serious, comedic, historical and avant garde drama, as well as musical thea­ tre. Some diverse credits include : Terry Randall in "S tage Door"; the Cockney maid Nancy in "Angel Street"; Phili a in "A Funny Thing ... Forum " ; Rapunzel in the West Coast premier of A . Sex­ ton 's "Transformations"; and the Indian woman Sacajawea in "M ulti-Ethni c American Leaders," which toured California schools under federal sponsorship. Laurel has also appeared on television's "Barnaby Jones," "Med ical Center," "Days of·Our Lives, " " Fantasy" and the MGM Movie of the Week. In addition, she has been seen as chora le soloist at the Los Angeles Music Center and performs as a concert pianist.

Gwil Richards comes to St. Edward's University Mary Moody Northen Theatre with extensive stage, television and film back­ ground. He has appeared in the feature films of "Cannery Row ," " Deal of the Century ," "Man, Woman & Child," " Motel Hell ," "Summer of Fear, " and "It's Alive." Te levision guest star ap ­ pearance include roles on "Ge neral Hospital ," Steve Martin's "Winds of Whoope," "A ll in th e Family," "Stra nger in This House ," Lindbergh Kidnapping Case," "M ission Impossible," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King ," and "Carter Country," to name a few. On stage, Gwil has worked at the distinguished Guthrie Theatre, Mark Tap er Forum, and Front. St . Theatre performing such roles as: Mr. Fr anklin in "Children of a Lesser God," Felix in " The Odd Couple," Mitch in "S tr eetcar Named Desire," Chuck les in " A Thousand Clowns," and M ax in "Mad Vincent." Hi s trustworth y face can be seen on thousands of television com­ mercia ls. W e hope you will join us in welcoming Gwil to St. Edward's University and the Austin community.

COMPANY DESIGNER

Victor McQuiston , Company Production Designer and Technica l Director , is an Assistant Professor for St. Edward's University . Mr . McQuiston has design ed and constructed the sets, lights and sound for the Northen theatre productions of "The Boyfriend, " " Man For All Seasons," "P uente Negro," "A Company of Way­ ward Saints '' and '' Summ er and Smoke.'' He holds an MFA degree from Ohio Stat e University in Columbus, Ohio, wh ere he design ed the sets for the productions of '' Ameri can Buffalo,'' '' Hedda Gab­ ler," and "F iddl er on the Roof. In addition to maintaining the Technical facility of the Mary Moody Northen Theatre, Mr. Mc­ Quiston teaches Stagecraft , Lighting Design and Scene Design at St. Edward' s Universit y. Otis Hinkel Johnson began theatre experiences in Austin in 195 7 with Lucy Barton directing "The York Cycle of Miracle Plays." Mr. Johnson has been theatre since age 13. Austin performances include roles in the productions of "The Cherry Orchard," "The Pirates of Penzance," "Paint Your Wagon" and "1776 ." Mr . Johnson designed and construc ted the costumes for the Northen theatre produ ction of "Puente Negro."

Melba Martinez-Mi shler is th e Pub licity Dir ector/Ti cket Office Manager and a Lecturer for St. Edward 's University Mary Moody Northen Theatre . Mrs. Mishler holds an MA degree from th e University of Wyoming and is a member of Actor's Equity. She is currently Director of the '' Plays for Living '' program sponsored by Austin's Child and Family Service. Mrs . Mishler recently appeared in the Capitol City Playhouse production of "."

Linda Eaves is the Administrative Assistant for the Mary Moody Northen Theatre and a member of the Mary Moody Northen Thea­ tre Society . She is involved in a number of community volunteer programs including the "International Friendship Program" and with "Travis Heights Elementary."

718 S. Getty, Uvalde, TX 278-1787 THEC( Scott Allen is returning for a second season in the Summer Resident Co mpany on the Mary Moody Northen stage. He is a graduate from Louisiana Tech University . Mr. Allen appeared last summer on the Northen Stage in "The Good Doctor," as Uncle Henry in "The Hollow,'' and as Lablanche in ''A Shot in the Dark.''

George Brock is a sophomore acting major at St. Edward's Uni­ versity. Mr. Brock has appeared on the Northen stage as in "A Man For All Seasons," as Meliton in "P uente Negro," and as Harlequin in "A Company of Wayward Saints." This is George's first season with the Summer Resident Company.

Margaret Connelly is a senior acting major at St . Edward's Uni­ versity . Miss Connelly has appeared on the Northen stage as Ruf­ fiana in "A Company of Wayward Saints, " Fay in "T he Boyfri end, " Mercy Lewis in "The Crucible" and in the premiere production of "The Wall Between " as Sarah. This is Margaret's first season with the Summer Resident Company.

Maia Forstchen is a graduate of St. Edward's University and is returning for the second season of the Summer R esident Company. Miss Forstchen's most recent appearance on the Northen stage was as Mrs. Winemiller in ''Summer and Smoke.'' Other appearances includ e Gerda in "The Hollow," "The Good Doctor " and as Dorine in ''Tar tuffe . ''

Norman Freelan II is a sophomore theatre major at St. Edward's University and this marks his first season with the Resident Summer Company. Mr. Fr eelan has worked on the Mary Moody Northen Theatr e productions of "The Boyfriends," "A Man For All Sea­ sons," "A Company of Wayward Saints" and appeared as Vernon in '' Summer and Smok e.''

Abby Goldstein is returning for a second season in the Mary Moody Northen Summer Resident Company as a technician and Prop Mistress. Miss Goldstein is a senior theatre major from Beaumont, T exas, and is a member of Alpha Psi Omega theatre fraternity . She has worked on the Northen productions of "The Good Doctor," "The Hollow," and "A Shot in the Dark." ~PANY Charles Keffeler is a sophomore theatre major at St. Edward's Universit y. Mr. Keffeler's technical work on the Northen stage includes work on the produ ctions of "The Boyfriend," "A Man For All Seasons" and "Puente Negro ." Mr. Keffeler was the Mas­ ter Electrician for the production "A Company of Wayward Saints." This season marks his first with the Mary Moody Northen Theatr e Summer Resident Company.

Kevin Kennedy is a sophomor e theatre major at St. Edward's University from Chittenango , NY. Mr. Kennedy has worked on the production crew in the Mary Moody Northen Theatr e productions of "The Boyfriend," "A Man For All Seasons," "A Company of Wayward Saints,'' and ''Summer and Smoke .'' This is Kevin's first season with the Northen Summer Resident Company.

Rob Muir is a graduate of St. Edward's University and is returning for a second season with the Summer Resident Company. Mr. Muir's Northen stage appearances include the roles of Gonzales in '' Summer and Smoke,'' King Henry in '' A Man For All Sea­ sons,'' Per civa l Browne in ''The Boyfriend,'' Moustan in '' A Shot in the Dark " and Edward in "The Hollow" to name a few.

Cindy Schaeffer is returning for a second summer with the Resident Company as the Master Electrician. Miss Schaeffer has worked on the Northen theatre productions of "The Good Doctor," "The Hollow," and "A Shot in the Dark ." She is currently enrolled at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, as a Senior Theatre major.

Elise Wagner is a graduate theatre major from St. Edward's Uni­ versity and is returning for a second season with the Northen Resi­ dent Company as Stage Manager. Miss Wagner has stage managed the productions of ''The Good Do ctor,'' ''The Hollow,'' ''A Shot in the Dark," " Bells Are Ringing," and " ."
