  • Casting Announced for Asolo Rep's MORNING AFTER GRACE Directed by Peter Amster; Production Runs Jan
MORNING AFTER GRACE Page 1 of 6 ***For Immediate Release*** December 19, 2017 Casting Announced for Asolo Rep's MORNING AFTER GRACE Directed by Peter Amster; Production runs Jan. 17 - March 4 (SARASOTA, December 19, 2017) — Asolo Rep continues its repertory season with MORNING AFTER GRACE, a poignant comedy about new love for the older set. Penned by playwright Carey Crim, a fresh voice for the American stage, and directed by Asolo Rep Associate Artist Peter Amster (Asolo Rep: Born Yesterday, Living on Love, The Matchmaker, and more), MORNING AFTER GRACE previews January 17 and 18, opens January 19 and runs in rotating repertory through March 4 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. The morning after a funeral, Abigail and Angus awake from a whirlwind, booze-fueled one- night-stand on Angus' couch. And so begins this unconventional comedy, set in a not-so- distant Florida retirement community. As Abigail and Angus uncover the meaning of their hook-up and future, Abigail's neighbor Ollie, a retired baseball pro, struggles to find a way to make sense of his past and the secret he's hidden for decades. Hilarious and heart- warming, MORNING AFTER GRACE reminds us that it is never too late to rediscover love, and yourself, again. -more- MORNING AFTER GRACE Page 2 of 6 MORNING AFTER GRACE premiered at the Purple Rose Theatre Company in 2016. Asolo Rep's production of the play has provided an exciting opportunity for Carey Crim to be in rehearsals and work with Peter Amster to hone and fine tune the play even further.

By Lanford Wilson Directed by Kati Oltyan July 1 ~ 3, 2021 Lakewood, CO Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York. About the Playwright Compiled by Jan Sutton Lanford Eugene Wilson (1937-2011) was born on April 13, 1937, in Lebanon Missouri, a town that he used as the setting for several of his plays, including the one you are seeing tonight. His parents divorced when he was 5 and he was raised by his mother and her second husband, a Missouri farmer. He attended college in Missouri and San Diego but left in 1957 to live in Chicago. He experimented with writing short stories but decided that his ideas might do better as plays so he attended play-writing classes through the University of Chicago Extension Program. In 1962 he moved to New York City where his plays were widely performed in Off-Off- Broadway theaters such as La MaMa Experimental Theater and Café Cino. In 1967, he received the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Playwright for The Rimers of Eldritch. In 1969 he co-founded the Circle Repertory Theater, an Off-Broadway theater that was his literary home for almost 30 years. The first play of his that was successfully performed there was The Hot l Baltimore in 1973, for which he received the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award and the Obie Award for Best New American Play. In 1975, he received his second Obie for Playwriting for The Mound Builders, also performed at Circle Rep. Talley’s Folly is part of a trilogy of plays about the Talley family, all of which explore the effects of war on a family in Missouri.

MEDIA RELEASE WICKED is coming to Australia. The hottest musical in the world will open in Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in July 2008. With combined box office sales of $US 1/2 billion, WICKED is already one of the most successful shows in theatre history. WICKED opened on Broadway in October 2003. Since then over two and a half million people have seen WICKED in New York and just over another two million have seen the North American touring production. The smash-hit musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award-winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (My So Called Life, Once And Again and thirtysomething) is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire. WICKED is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. ‘We’re delighted that Melbourne is now set to follow WICKED productions in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, the North American tour and London’s West End,’ Marc Platt and David Stone said in a joint statement from New York. ‘Melbourne will join new productions springing up around the world over the next 16 months, and we’re absolutely sure that Aussies – and international visitors to Melbourne – will be just as enchanted by WICKED as the audiences are in America and England.’ WICKED will premiere in Tokyo in June; Stuttgart in November; Melbourne in July 2008; and Amsterdam in 2008. Winner of 15 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz.

1 Dancing at Lughnasa ACT ONE When the play opens MICHAEL is standing downstage left in a pool of light. The rest of the stage is in darkness. Immediately MICHAEL begins speaking slowly bring up the lights on the rest of the stage. Around the stage and at a distance from MICHAEL the other characters stand motionless in formal tableau. MAGGIE is at the kitchen window (right). CHRIS is at the front door. KATE at extreme stage right. ROSE and GERRY sit on the garden seat. JACK stands beside ROSE. AGNES is upstage left. They hold these positions while MICHAEL talks to the audience. MICHAEL. When I cast my mind back to that summer of 1936 different kinds of memories offer themselves to me. We got our first wireless set that summer – well, a sort of set; and it obsessed us. And because it arrived as August was about too begin, my Aunt Maggie – She was the joker of the family – she suggested we give it a name. She wanted to call it Lugh* after the old Celtic God of the Harvest. Because in the old days August the First was La Lughnasa, the feast day of the pagan god, Lugh; and the days and weeks of harvesting that followed were called the Festival of Lughnasa. But Aunt Kate – she was a national schoolteacher and a very proper woman --she said it would be sinful to christen an inanimate object with any kind of name, not to talk of a pagan god. So we just called it Marconi because that was the name emblazoned on the set.

A LEGAL CAREER FOR ALL SEASONS: REMEMBERING ST. THOMAS MORE'S VOCATION VERYL VICTORIA MILES* The vast majority of the work taking place in most law schools is the preparation of law students for the practice of law; namely, to teach legal theory and doctrine, legal analysis, writing, and advocacy. In sum, the goal of most law schools is to teach the many different skills required in law practice and the profes- sional rules of legal ethics. What appears to be lacking in the preparation of future lawyers are lessons on how to incorporate this vast amount of specialized learning and skill in ways that will be harmonious with the personal, moral, and ethical values that they possessed at the commencement of their legal education.
