Attendance

Just a reminder, attendance for students needs to be emailed to [email protected]. If your child will be tardy, needs an early dismissal, or will be absent, please email at that address. This will go directly to both Julie and Annette, the secretaries at Queen of Angels, and they will document the daily attendance in accordance with the email. If you can’t email, we happily still accept phone calls and written excuses.

Transportation Changes

Any transportation changes must notify prior to 1:00 PM. If a child is to ride home via parent or bus with a friend, a note must be received from both families indicating the date and bus/car they are to ride.

Fall Celebration – Kerber’s Hayride

All School Hay Ride at Kerber’s Dairy Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Kerber’s Dairy Farm, North Huntingdon from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Cost is $9.00 per person. Bring your family for some fall fun. Come enjoy the company of Queen of Angels Catholic School families with a hayride, ice cream cone, and a pumpkin. If you need tickets, please call the school at 724 978-0144.

Drama Club

Drama Club will begin on Tuesday, October 8, for students in Grades 5-8. Performances are scheduled for March 20 and 21.

School Pictures

PK 3 AM/PM, absentees, retakes, clubs and activity pictures will be on Thursday, October 24, 2019.

Lottery Calendars

Lottery Calendar and stubs are due before Tuesday, November 20th. If you would like to purchase additional calendars, please call the school office at 724-978-0144. The calendars make great Christmas gifts for that hard to buy for special person in your life.

Yearbook

2018-2019 Yearbooks are available to purchase in the office for $25.00. Supply is limited. Please make checks payable to Queen of Angels Catholic School.

Calling Volunteers

We are currently seeking individuals (parents, grandparents, parishioners etc.) who would like to share their talents and interest with our school students at after-school clubs. These clubs could range from gardening, to cooking, to sports, to photography, to robotics, the arts etc. These clubs would meet from 3:00-4:00pm and could meet weekly, biweekly or monthly—depending on your schedule. All volunteers would need to have their clearances. If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 724-978-0144 or contact Christina at [email protected].

Tiny Angels

Come join the newest ministry at Queen of Angels Catholic School - Tiny Angels. Come deepen your prayer life and bond with other mothers and caregivers. All moms and “Tiny Angels” are welcome. We will start by praying in the school chapel and then move upstairs where mom’s and caregivers will be able to have discussions and children may play. We will meet the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month (when school is in session) from 8:30 - 10:30 am. Fall – Otis Spunkmeyer and Little Caesars

DATES TO REMEMBER … All orders and money are due in the school office by Wednesday, September 25th. Delivery is scheduled for Monday, October 28th from 11:30 - 4:00 PM. AGAIN THIS YEAR! Donation Request

Mrs. Fidazzo is looking for an old unwanted turntables or salad spinners to use for an art project. If you have one you would like to donate, please bring it to the office.

Annual Casino Night

Queen of Angels 6th Annual Casino Night will be held at Antonelli’s Event Center on Friday, May 15th!

Christmas Concert

Our Annual Christmas concert will be Thursday, December 12th.

Walkathon

Queen of Angels Catholic School will be holding their 8th Annual Walkathon next week on Friday, October 4th at Irwin Park. It is important to remember that for each dollar collected by our students 100% goes back to help our school! Although, there is no preschool on this date, we welcome all our preschool families to come and join us at this fun and family centered event. Families and businesses are also encouraged to sponsor this event (levels range from $100- $1,000). For any questions, contact Christina at [email protected].

• Each child that raises at least $30.00 will receive a dress down day pass. o The top three classes that raise the most pledge money (based on class size) will receive the following: . 1st place Pizza Party . 2nd place Doughnut Party . 3rd place Ice Cream Sandwich Party

If our school reaches its goal of $10,000 raised, we will have the Kona Ice Truck come to the school for students to receive a free treat.

• Our event will start with a prayer service in the auditorium. • Permission slips are due by September 27th. • Pledge forms and money are due Monday October 7th.

• Eat ‘n Park has generously donated Smiley cookies for this year’s snack. If you do NOT want your child to have a cookie, please send in a note to your child’s teacher and an alternate snack.

Mother Son Dance

Queen of Angels Catholic School is excited to announce that we will be hosting our First Mother-Son Western Dance on Friday October 11th from 6:30-8:30 PM in the school’s cafeteria. All sons in grades Prek-8th grade are invited to attend with their mother or important woman in their life (grandmothers, stepmothers, aunts, sisters, etc.). The cost is $20 per couple and $5 for each additional person. There will be music, games and food! Please contact the school office to RSVP. Middle School Dance

Queen of Angels Catholic School will be hosting a Halloween Costume Dance for diocesan middle school students (grades 6th-8th). The cost is $5.00 to attend, and it is asked that no handheld props are brought into the event and no masks that cover the entire face. To RSVP please text 724-216-8170. Bonfire

Queen of Angels Catholic School is excited to announce their 2nd Project Genesis event of the school year…our Nature at Night All School Bonfire! This bonfire will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 6:00pm at St. Agnes. Enjoy roasted marshmallows, hot dogs, and outdoor games with the Queen of Angels school family. There is no cost to attend, but we do ask that you RSVP to school office by October 17th, so that we can plan for food. We also ask that you bring your own water bottles and blankets/chairs to sit on. Feel free to bring a friend!

Our school’s NEW Project Genesis Outdoor Classroom and Play Space is almost complete! This new learning area was made possible because of a $20,000 grant from the Arconic Foundation! We are beyond grateful for their support and look forward to this new innovative learning space for our students!

Parent Teacher Group (PTG)

Our school will be holding our first PTG meeting on October 17th at 6:30pm in the school library. All are welcome to attend this meeting, as officers will be elected, and we will begin to discuss plans for this school year.

Morris Farm

Our Queen of Angels Family had a wonderful time at Morris Organic Farm on Wednesday, September 18th! We were able to pick plenty of peppers, beans and pumpkins. Mr. Morris also gave a brief demonstration on how potatoes are harvested using a 90-year-old piece of machinery, which was fascinating to watch. We hope everyone enjoyed our first Project Genesis event of the school year and that all the families enjoy the produce that they picked.

Birthday Dress Down Days

This year we will be offering again a birthday dress down day for your child’s class on their birthday. This may be instead of (or in addition) to a class treat. The cost will be $1.00 for each child in the class, so you would have to purchase a pass for the entire class. Birthday dress down forms can be found on the Queen of Angels website on the Home Page.

Lego Club

Taste of Kindergarten

Queen of Angels Catholic School will be holding our first Taste of Kindergarten event this winter. Stay tuned for details for the date and time. Any interested family in learning more about the Queen of Angels Catholic School Kindergarten program for the 2020-2021 academic school year or to learn more about kindergarten readiness is welcomed to attend. Thank you to everyone who donated stuffed animals for our Kentucky project collection. Your donations successfully stuffed two Our 4th and 5th grade classes will be teachers’ vehicles. collecting in October.

Kindness Club

We are excited to partner with Beverly’s Birthdays as we host their first ever New Clothing Drive. Beverly’s Birthdays supplies birthday gifts and parties to underprivileged children in the Pittsburgh area. The clothes we donate will be hung in the “Beverly’s Boutique” truck, which gives kids the opportunity to choose a birthday outfit and provides them with a basic kit of pajamas, socks, and underwear. Please consider picking up a wish tag in the main lobby. Our drive will end on Tuesday, October 8. Thanks for your generosity!

Chick-fil-A Day

New and exciting things happening in the Cafeteria this year!

New this year we will be having a Chick-fil-a day! Every Tuesday we will be ordering from Chick-fil-a. We will need to have everyone that is ordering sign up on Fridays for the following Tuesday so that the order can be placed each week. So if you plan on coming for lunch with your child(ren) you will also have to sign-up on Friday by sending a note in with your child.

The following can be ordered: Chicken Sandwich $4.00

8 ct. Chicken Nuggets $4.00

8 Ct. Grilled Nuggets $4.50

Money can be taken directly from your child(ren)’s lunch account.

REMINDERS FROM THE CAFETERIA:

Please check Power School for your child’s balance. All checks and cash must be in an envelope with the child’s name and room number. You can send one check for all your children. Please note how you want the money divided. If their account is in the negative, they are not permitted to buy ala carte. When packing lunches, please remember to pack all the condiments, utensils, straws and napkins they will need. Thanks, Amy Cafeteria Manager
