Credit Ability: Build a Strong Credit History and Understanding Your Credit Report Your credit score is based on how you use credit, and it’s a number you can control. Unfortunately, many people don’t understand the long-term consequences of their day-to-day financial decisions. Building a strong credit history means more than getting approved for a credit card. It means paying all bills on time, keeping a lid on how much you owe to other people, responsible credit use over a long period of time, and having a healthy mix of credit over time. Your credit history—good or bad—follows you throughout your lifetime and has a significant impact on your family’s well-being and overall bottom line. Federal Credit Union wants to give you the tools to lay a solid foundation for your future. Come to an informational session, “CreditAbility: Build a Strong Credit History,” There’s no cost to attend. is geared toward individuals and families who are just beginning their financial life, as well as those who may have gotten side-tracked along the way and need to start fresh for whatever reason, or those who want to make sure they’re on the right track.

Explore New York: Corona, Queens Get to know and taste Corona, Queens. Twenty years ago Corona was a tense neighborhood. Longtime Italian residents were unwelcoming and at times downright violent towards newly arriving Latino Immigrants. Today older Italian men and younger Latinos banter in a mix of Italian, Spanish, and English over lemon ices and games of bocce. A newer Mexican restaurant offers Italian Special tamales with peppers and sausage as a nod to the generations old Italian markets around the corner. Still Corona is a complex neighborhood, but mixed into the challenges it faces, it has its charm: rich street life, great food and triumphs as newer immigrants make their way in New York just as the Corona residents of old did.
