MATH OLYMPIAD 2019-2020

I am very pleased and excited you have decided to join the McClure 6th grade or 7t h/ 8t h grade Math Olympiad team! Generally, Math Olympiad will meet once a week either before school at 7:40am or after school until 4:30pm. You do not need to attend every meeting, but plan on attending the meetings at least a couple of times a month. As we get closer to the competition, practices may increase. The competition is scheduled for S aturday February 29th, 2020 time TBD. Please make sure you have this date free. The competition has 2 parts: an individual and a team test. Typically, teams are groups of 4-5 kids. Our practices will consist of practice problems, problem solving techniques, and teamwork exercises.

Please email Mrs. Quintos or Ms. Knaub if you are seriously interested in joining and will dedicate the time and effort into the team. From November-January practices will probably be once a week. In February practices may increase to 2-3 times per week.

Please give this note to your parent or guardian so they can read this note and the food notice below. Then, please return this permission slip to Mrs. Quintos or Ms. Knaub by Monday, November 4th. We are looking forward to a great year in Math Olympiad!

------Dear Parent or Guardian: As per the revised District 101 Food Allergy Policy, no snacks/food will be provided to students at the Math Olympiad meetings. Students are encouraged to bring their own PEANUT-FREE snack to enjoy after school (no sharing will be permitted).

My son/daughter has my permission to attend the weekly Math Olympiad meetings during the 2019-2020 school year. I understand that my son/daughter is responsible for listening to announcements regarding upcoming Math Olympiad meetings. I also understand that students will bring peanut-free snacks to the meetings.
