Oktober 2017 Kurzfassung Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich damit, wie sich Planungsregionen für eine übergemeindliche Raumplanung in Südtirol bestimmen und abgrenzen lassen. Das Thema entstand in Absprache mit dem Amt für Landesplanung der Autonomen Provinz Bozen – Südtirol. Durch Änderungen im Planungssystem Südtirols in den Jahren 2016/2017, soll der interkommunalen Raumplanung mehr Bedeutung zugemessen werden. Der neue Landesstrategieplan wird voraussichtlich eine regionale Planungsebene, zwischen Gemeinde- und Landesebene, vorschlagen, welche es jedoch noch zu definieren gilt. Es wird dabei eine stärkere strategische und integrierte Planung angestrebt. Hinzu kommt, dass der Entwurf des neuen Raumordnungsgesetzes Entwicklungsprogramme vorsieht, welche vorzugsweise übergemeindlich ausgearbeitet werden sollen. Welche Gemeinden zusammenarbeiten sollten, ist dabei noch ungeklärt. Es stellt sich somit die Frage, wie Planungsregionen abgegrenzt und definiert werden können. Um diese zu beantworten, wurden auf Basis von Beispielen aus umliegenden Ländern raumordnungsrelevante Kriterien für Südtirol entwickelt, deren Datenverfügbarkeit gegeben war, nach welchen sich funktionale Regionen abgrenzen lassen.
