THE TWENTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

PASTORAL STAFF The Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Rev. Thomas Murphy R Pastor Albert Einstein said that the “true measure of Rev. Patrick Agbodi, SMA R Parochial Vicar intelligence is not knowledge but imaginaon.” RETIRED PRIESTS Being a disciple of Jesus Christ requires a great deal Rev. J. Joseph Ford of imaginaon. It is not enough to simply aend to Rev. Tom Lequin facts, rules and rituals and consider the job done. Rev. Richard Rice Quite contrarily, the Gospels demands creavity, of Rev. Peter Uhde trying to discern how to put flesh on the Beatudes DEACONS and properly serve God’s children. Jesus never doled out a top down agenda. Not once Deacon John Murphy did he ever demand conformity over conversion or sacrifice over mercy. The Gospel is Deacon Robert Curs always about pung people in touch with their compassionate, forgiving, and Deacon Tom Blatz uncondionally loving God and meeng them where they are. Deacon Edwin Robinson For Jesus, it o en meant breaking a few rules. Well respected and meRhonored ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF Business Coordinator tradions had to be set aside in order to aend to what really maered. God’s Charleen Foley R 443R3423 compassion, mercy and true conversion were always the trump cards. The story of the Pastoral Life Coordinator Good Samaritan, healing on the Sabbath, and bypassing of purificaon rituals all display Martha Corkery R 725R2624 this theme. Human beings can get too hung up on protocol and tradion. This is so much Pastoral Associate so that o en preserving all of these things is of greater concern than the beggar knocking Angela BoivinR725R2624 on our door or the sinner looking for mercy. It is no wonder, then, that we can easily Office Staff become hypocrical. Many can see us on our knees in prayer while our true heart and Main Office acons, rooted in judgment and selfRpreservaon, are hidden from others. It is a trap St. Charles Borromeo Church) into which we can easily fall. Who cares how we live our lives as long as our hands are Sheila Finamore R 725R2624 properly washed! Bookkeeping Office (St. Mary’s Church) Here enters the need for imaginaon and the disncon of truly being a wise and Jeannine DeRosby, Sr. Bookkeeper intelligent person. It takes a good measure of creavity and a lot of guts to really be a Dorothy Peters R 443R3423 doer of God’s word and not merely a hearer. Being a person who doesn’t just tell people Other Church Offices about God but shows people God requires courage and ingenuity. That’s why people like Our Lady Queen of Peace: St. Francis of Assisi and St. Teresa of Calcua are meless. Their genuineness speaks Laura Kowacki R 633R2680 volumes generaon to generaon. It’s risky business taking the step to allow God into St. Mary’s: Ann Carlton R 443R3423 our hearts. Perming God to release us from the grip of our evil thoughts, infidelity, St. Patrick’s: Dorothy Peters R 563R3240 greed, malice, sexual impropriees, licenousness, envy, arrogance, folly, and the like ST. JOHN’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL takes courage. That’s why we prefer to spend our energy rearranging the future rather PrincipalRMrs. Shelly Wheeler R 725R5507 than take measures to secure a foundaon that is most certainly crumbling.
