From the Pastor’s Desk Marriage: The Gift of Love and Life Against this foreboding background, the reaction to Pope Most Rev. Victor Galeone Paul’s encyclical came as no surprise, even though it only restated what the Church has taught for 2,000 years. C.S. Lewis once wisely observed: “When everyone is rushing headlong towards the precipice, anyone going in the Namely: opposite direction would appear to be mad.” “There is an inseparable link between the two meanings of the marriage act: the unitive meaning [making love] and the In July of 1968, the world at large thought Pope Paul VI had procreative meaning [making babies]. A tidal wave of angry dissent erupted over the pope’s decision. Help Wanted Are you retired and looking for something worthwhile you can do once a month? Every Monday after Mass and Rosary (about 9:00AM) a small team of volunteers clean the pews and aisles in the church. They take care of the cheerios and fruit loops left behind after Sunday Masses, eradicate "dust bunnies", polish off fingerprints from the glass panes, populate the lost and found, and do a little vacuuming and housekeeping. If this is something you might be able to fit into your schedule for just over an hour on a monthly basis, please call Judy in the parish office 612-787-1150 to fit you in with some "seasoned" volunteers.
