Executive Principal: Primary Education: Simon McCarthy BSc (Hons) NPQH Principal: Helen Townsley BA (Hons) Chair of Governors: Mr Mark Roper 29 April 2019 Principal’s Message There is much to tell you about in terms of children representing the school so positively since our Easter return. Firstly, I was so impressed with the Year 2 children and the wonderful effort they showed when completing their KS1 mock SATs. This week, our Year 6 cohort worked with teachers from across the Trust at The Ruth Gorse Academy and then went onto the Everyman Cinema in Leeds City Centre to relax! Both Trust colleagues and the staff at the cinema were glowingly positive about our pupil’s work ethic, manners and attitudes. Our Year 4 children, and some of their parents, have been visiting The Farnley Academy over the last two weeks to engage in a family cooking activity with a focus on healthy meals. As the children arrived back at Ryecroft, they were full of enthusiasm and they reported that they had learnt a great deal from this experience. They even brought me my lunch! Miss Dunderdale informed me that a member of staff at The Farnley Academy described the children as the politest group of children she had ever come across. This followed on from her holding the door for them and each and every child saying thank you without being prompted. In connection with events this week, it is very important to thank Miss Rennard (The Ruth Gorse Academy), Mr Denton (The Farnley Academy) and Mrs Webster (Boston Spa Academy and The Morley Academy) along with our SCITT colleagues for giving up their time to work with our Year 6 cohort. -

For APP City/Employer Insights: If your school has ‘FSM’ in the Social Criteria column, then you must have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point during your secondary schooling. Please provide as a spreadsheet with school name, pollution level, and any location information such as borough. This data is available on the London datastore. The most recent available data is from the London Atmospheric Emission Inventory (LAEI) 2016 and was published in April 2019. The data used for the 2018 report is LAEI 2013. Please find attached a list and a summary of all Educational Establishments in London and NO2 levels based on both the LAEI 2013 update and LAEI 2016. The list has been taken from the register of educational establishments in England and Wales, maintained by the Department for Education, and provides information on establishments providing compulsory, higher and further education. It was downloaded on 21/03/2019, just before the release of the LAEI 2016. The attached spreadsheet has recently been published as part of the LAEI 2016 stats on Datastore here. -

Introduction Physical Education (PE), school sport and Physical Activity (PA) play an important role in the lives of young people. They can have a hugely positive impact on physical and mental health and wellbeing, self-confidence, learning and attainment, behaviour, leadership skills, competitiveness and community cohesion. The Merton School Sport Partnership is funded and supported by it’s key stakeholders to ensure that PE, school sport and PA is well coordinated, delivered in abundance and to a high standard to the students within the Borough of Merton. Our three year Development Plan considers both local and national needs and recommendations with our key targets, focus for delivery and outcomes reviewed and published annually. 2. Background and Context Merton School Sport Partnership is located in the London Borough of Merton and was established in September 2003 through the government funded national PE School Sport & Club Links programme. The Partnership is formed of 44 primary schools, 8 secondary schools and 4 special schools / pupil referral units (PRUs). In September 2011, due to a reduction in government funding, MSSP reduced in size and became a self-funded entity via a range of avenues but predominantly through its key stakeholders, Merton state schools and academies. Since then the Partnership has gradually expanded and now provides a specialist sports provision service and professional development programme. -
