Amnesty Groups List: December 2014 AMNESTY GROUPS LIST: DECEMBER 2014 View group lists by region and by type. YOUTH GROUP LIST: December 2014 Please note: Staff will be happy to provide contact details for youth groups by region on request. Please email [email protected] or call 0207 033 1596. If you wish to contact the whole national list of youth groups, we ask that this is done through staff to ensure that the quantity and flow of information to groups is managed, and that groups are not overwhelmed by different requests. This also ensures that information goes to the most up to date list, and that the lists aren’t passed onto other organisations inadvertently. Inspired by Mark Keatley Palmer, OAs of all vintages drove into the College with cars of similar or even more ancient vintage. For this and future years we merged OA Day with the Companions’ Day – the Companions being former staff. This led to many surprise reunions, as teachers realised that their pupils of yesteryear had grown into responsible middle age, and OAs realised that their teachers might have been human after all.

Congratulations are also due to Simon Hi1Is and Keith Halsey for two weU-deserved Flying Scholarships, and to David Eccles on bis Army Scholarship. Various improvements have been instigated, and in some cases completed, around the schooI. Tbe Courtroom has been redecorated, and may soon be slightly adapted to serve as apart-time theatre, to satisfy the growing interest in drama in the schooI. Tbe Music School has had carpeting installed, which, I am told, will improve the acoustics, while the pavillon on Upper Field has been given a facelift. Tbe Boarding Houses have not been neglected, however: showers are being built on to Glyndowr, while at Waste Court, parts of the house have been redecorated. Meanwhile, the new Dining Hall is progressing weil: although the roof is not yet on, the builders have started some of the indoar plastering, tTUsting in the good weather. It should be finished and ready for use by Christmas. Many other minor repairs and improvements have been made, too many to mention, far which we must thank the Bursar's vigilant eye. Speakers mM laid on a one-day conference in the school for Sixth-Formers interested in computers.

  • Report on the Second York Schools Science Quiz on Thursday 12 March, Thirteen Schools from in and Around York Came Together
    Report on the Second York Schools Science Quiz On Thursday 12 March, thirteen schools from in and around York came together for the second York Schools Science Quiz. Twenty two school teams competed along with four teacher teams (put together from the teachers who brought the pupils along from the various schools) for the trophies and prizes. Each team consisted of two Lower Sixth and two Fifth Form pupils or four Fifth Form pupils for those schools without Sixth Forms. The schools represented were Manor CE School, Canon Lee School, The Joseph Rowntree School, Huntington School, Archbishop Holgate’s School, Fulford School, All Saints School, Millthorpe School, St Peter’s School, Bootham School, The Mount School, Selby High School and Scarborough College. The event took place as part of the York ISSP and also the York Schools Ogden Partnership, with a large thank you to the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Physics for some of the prizes, the Rotary Club of York Vikings for the water bottles and the Ogden Trust for the 8 GB memory sticks and Amazon Voucher prizes. The quiz was put together and presented by Sarah McKie, who is the Head of Biology at St Peter’s School, and consisted of Biology, Chemistry and Physics rounds alongside an Observation Challenge and a Hitting the Headlines round amongst others. At the end of the quiz the teams waited with bated breath for the results to be announced. It turned out that three teams were tied for second place, so a tie breaker was needed to separate them.

When comparing results with last year. A Level 2017 A level 2018 35% A*- B grades 39% A* - B grades 62% A*- C grades 68% A* - C grades Progression Routes - University • 84 students left us to go onto university last year • 84 students applied to go so 100% of our university applicants were successful in accessing university placements this year. Progression Routes - University • 77% of our students got their first choice course at their first choice institution. • Only 4 % of our students needed to use the clearing service to get a university placement. Having enjoyed a close victory against the team last year, the boys were looking to get their latest season off to a positive start. Conditions were absolutely glorious and perfect for the style of rugby that this group like to play.
