Power Play: 1-3 QUOTES Penalty Kill: 2-2 Colorado LW Gabriel Landeskog On The Avs’ Performance: “I think obviously the first 10 of the game Faceoffs: 48% and then the last 10 were really the only positives out of this one to- night. I mean, we were working them, we were fighting our way, trying to get our way back into this one. We were just too sloppy, too tired out there. You know, we looked too spread out and weren’t really support- Next Practice ing each other as well as we have been and we need to, to be success- Saturday ful. Nonetheless, a big point. Yeah, we need more.” Nov. 17, 2018 — 11 a.m. Family Sports POSTGAME NOTES & QUOTES WASHINGTON CAPITALS 3, COLORADO AVALANCHE 2 (OT) NOVEMBER 16, 2018

On Tonight’s Game: “We come out in the first 10 minutes and I feel like we had four or five grade-A chances. And then I don’t know if it was frustration that set in or whatever it was but we started throw- ing pucks and we couldn’t seem to get through the neutral zone as clean as we would like to. And against a team like this, it just wasn’t good enough and obviously we’ll take this point as it is, but I wish we could have got more.”

Colorado G Philipp Grubauer On His Performance: “It was good. I had a couple of chances in the slot, I got to make a save but then in the end, I think we played unbelievable The last period, shutting them down, scoring a . It was nice to get a game in two weeks or whatever.”

On Playing Against His Former Team: “It’s all business, it doesn’t matter who is on the ice. In terms of how the game went, I think we had a good start to the game. Obviously, the goal, but then we didn’t play the way we played the last few games and I think we need to play that way. We showed up in the last period and we didn’t give them much and that’s how we need to play moving forward – 60 minutes, not just 20 or 15.”

Washington C Nicklas Backstrom On Tonight’s Win: “Every time we have injuries it’s gonna give other guys that opportunity and I thought we played pretty good today. We didn’t give them a whole lot. That was a nice win, we needed that.”

On Takeaways From Tonight’s Game: “It’s going to give us a little confidence, I think. That’s always good when you have a lot of guys hurt. I mean, it was nice to see that we really got the others and played a good defensive game. Everyone was on the same page, blocking shots and doing all the little things right. Two points is always two points.”

Washington RW Tom Wilson On Tonight’s Win: “I think we probably deserved a little better than Winnipeg. We’re playing hockey more like our type of hockey and a little bit tighter. We’ve put together a pretty good road trip so far and it was nice to get rewarded against a good team tonight.”

On Washington G Pheonix Copley’s Performance: “He’s been outstanding for us. Every time he’s gone in net, he’s given us a chance to win and more. That’s all you can ask for from your goalie and we try and go out there and pick up the rest of it. He’s been out here a little bit, he’s gone out there and given us a chance to win every night. Love seeing that from a guy in his position.”
