    Remarks by the Honorable Sean O’Keefe NASA Administrator Apollo 11 Anniversary Event Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum July 20, 2004 Good evening ladies and gentlemen. It is a great privilege to be in this shrine to aviation and spaceflight achievement in the presence of America's first great generation of space explorers, those who made their epic voyages possible, and of our current astronauts and the NASA team members who will enable humanity's next momentous steps in space as Dr. Marburger (Presidential Science Advisory Dr. Jack Marburger) just so eloquently discussed. There are so many great friends here from Congress who been very, very important in our quest to make this next great step feasible. Senator Bill Nelson, Congressmen Ralph Hall, Nick Lampson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Mike McIntyre, Mike Pence, Vic Snyder, Dave Weldon, Bob Aderholt, Chairman of 1 the Science Committee Sherry Boehlert, Sam Johnson, Tom Feeney, Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee Chairman Dana Rohrabacher and Juliane Sullivan who is here representing Majority Leader Tom DeLay. We are delighted for their participation, their help, their enthusiasm for I think the importance of this evening's event, as well as for our continued quest forward. I doubt there are any historical parallels to our good fortune here. Certainly, no records exist of people living in Lisbon 500 years ago attending a candlelit tribute to Amerigo Vespucci, Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan, who was about to set forth on his voyage to circle the globe. Yet here we are, in the midst of another great age of exploration, thrilled to have under one roof so many heroes who've sailed over the far horizon to the shores of space and back, including to a dusty Sea named Tranquility.

    Education Access Program for Grades K-12 Through the Education Access Program, Denver Botanic Gardens offers financial assistance to local schools. Each year, this valuable program provides authentic experiences bolstering understanding of plants and nature to children, kindergarten – 12th grade, including schools in underserved communities. In 2018 over 35,000 students came to the Gardens from 376 schools. Many were admitted either at a reduced rate or free of charge. In addition to classes, the Education Access Program also provides support for transportation as needed. The Gardens’ programs outlined below benefit from Education Access funding. Direct School Support The Gardens provides activities that supplement schools’ regular academic programming and are planned around Colorado Academic Standards for each grade level. Students experience nature, science and art in ways that are not part of the traditional curriculum. Teachers can sign up for the following programs: • Guided Explorations include our guides leading small groups of students in hands-on classroom activities and garden explorations. • Science Labs provide an up-close look at a topic through experiments and activities. All labs are offered for grades K-12; activities change to meet the unique needs of learners. • Discovery Days offer a unique mix of garden exploration, guided activities and self-guided activities with a variety of learning stations placed throughout the Gardens. • Cultivation Cruiser Outreach brings the Gardens to the classroom with plants, activities and planting projects. Urban Advantage Denver In partnership with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Zoo and Denver Public Schools, the Gardens offers both in and out of the classroom exploration opportunities to improve science literacy among middle school students.

To overcome the shortcomings of simple metrics for evalu- ating player performance, recent works have introduced more advanced metrics that take into account the context of the players' actions and per- form look-ahead. However, as ice hockey is a team sport, knowing about individual ratings is not enough and coaches want to identify players that play particularly well together. In this paper we therefore extend earlier work for evaluating the performance of players to the related problem of evaluating the performance of player pairs. We experiment with data from seven NHL seasons, discuss the top pairs, and present analyses and insights based on both the absolute and relative ice time together. Keywords: Sports analytics · Data mining · Player valuation. 1 Introduction In the field of sports analytics, many works focus on evaluating the performance of players. A commonly used method to do this is to attribute values to the different actions that players perform and sum up these values every time a player performs these actions. These summary statistics can be computed over, for instance, games or seasons. In ice hockey, common summary metrics include the number of goals, assists, points (assists + goals) and the plus-minus statistics (+/-), in which 1 is added when the player is on the ice when the player's team scores (during even strength play) and 1 is subtracted when the opposing team scores (during even strength). More advanced measures are, for instance, Corsi and Fenwick1. However, these metrics do not capture the context of player actions and the impact they have on the outcome of later actions.
