Avalanche Schedule Wednesday QUOTES Feb. 13, 2019 — 11 a.m. Colorado C Alexander Kerfoot On Toronto’s Power Play: “They’re a really good power-play unit. They Practice at Family Sports have guys who can move the puck, make plays and they capitalized on their chances and we just didn’t capitalize on our chances tonight and POSTGAME NOTES & QUOTES TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS 5, COLORADO AVALANCHE 2 FEBRUARY 12, 2019 that was the difference.”

On The First Period: “We were happy with our first period. We were putting a lot of pucks on net and generated a lot of chances, but special teams are big. We had power-play opportunities too, didn’t cap- italize on them at big times and obviously, that four-minute penalty kill was a turning point in the game.”

Colorado D Ryan Graves On Tonight’s Game: “Penalty kill really hurt us tonight. They have a good power play, so we were in the box way too much for how good they are on the man advantage. They had a couple of nice goals, a couple breakdowns in our coverage, but I thought we played a pretty good game 5-on-5, but we just have to stay out of the box.”

On Taking Advantage of His Opportunity in the NHL: “That’s exactly what I want to do, take advantage of the opportunity I’ve been given and I’m trying to do just that and stay within myself and play my game. And if there’s minutes there to be had, then I’ll do my best with what I get and make the most of the opportunity.”

Toronto RW Kasperi Kapanen On Toronto C Auston Matthews: “Even in the first shift of the game he made a great pass. I’m just trying to use my speed as much as I can when I have a chance to. And the other one, that was just the right play to put in the air because they had two guys next to me. He just sees the ice and knows what to do. It’s fun playing with him.”

On His Power-Play Goal: “It’s been a while, for sure. I haven’t been playing too much power play but I’m grateful for the chance to get out there and try and score goals and lucky enough I did today.”

Toronto C Auston Matthews On Tonight’s Game: “We’d like to be good home and away. It’s tough, especially coming into a building like this where altitude obviously affects you. I thought the first 10 minutes we kind of weathered the storm. It was a big goal by Kappy (Toronto RW Kasperi Kapanen) there and we just went from there. Pow- er play came out big for us and the rest is history.”

On Their Strategy Against Colorado’s Top Line: “I think just trying to keep them on the outside. They’re so good at spreading you out, especially in the zone. They’ll get behind your net. (Colorado RW Mikko) Rantanen or (Colorado C Nathan) MacKinnon will find each other, and different seams and they’ll move around well. I think just keep them to the outside as much as possible. They’re too good of a line that they’re gonna get a couple chances in the game and you just hope that Freddy (Toronto G Frederik An- dersen) comes big or you got guys in lanes that are blocking shots and at good angles.”
