LAST GAME — Nov. 30 (Chicago 3 at Colorado 7) Mikko Rantanen had four points (1g/3a) in his first game back from injury, Joonas Donskoi added his first career four-point game (2g/2a) and the Avalanche beat the Blackhawks 7-3 to sweep the home-and-home set with Chicago. Nazem Kadri scored twice and Nathan MacKinnon chipped in with three points (1g/2a) for the Avs, who won 5-2 in Chicago the night before. Tyson Jost also scored and Philipp Grubauer made 26 saves.

TONIGHT'S GAME The Colorado Avalanche begins a three-game Atlantic Division road trip tonight in Toronto against the Maple Leafs. The Avs will play in Montreal tomorrow before wrapping up the trip on Saturday night in Boston. The Avalanche finished November 8-6-0, going 8-3-0 in their last 11 games after starting the month 0-3.

• Nathan MacKinnon, the NHL's First Star of the Week and Second Star of the Month, has a four-game goal streak and seven-game point streak (6g/10a). • Ryan Graves has a career-high three-game point streak and Matt Nieto's three-game streak is one short of his career best.

BACK-TO-BACK The Avs are playing back-to-back games for the fifth time this season, as they face the Maple Leafs tonight and Canadiens tomorrow night in Montreal. The Avs just completed their fourth back-to-back set this past weekend, sweeping a home-and-home with the Blackhawks (5-2 on Friday and 7-3 on Saturday). The 12 combined goals were the most Colorado has ever scored in a back-to-back (previous was 11, twice: Nov. 1-2, 2018 and Oct. 21-22, 2005). The Avs are 3-1-0 in the first contest and 2-2-0 in the second. Colorado has swept two of its back-to-backs, split one and got swept in another.

AVS & MAPLE LEAFS The Avalanche and Maple Leafs wrap up the season series tonight. Toronto won the first matchup 5-3 on Nov. 23 in Denver. The Leafs are the second opponent to complete their season series with the Avs in 2019-20 (Florida). Colorado has won its last three visits to Scotiabank Arena and is 7-1-1 in its last nine games in the city of Toronto.

CONNECTIONS Nazem Kadri was Toronto's first-round pick (seventh overall) in 2009 and spent parts of 10 seasons with the Leafs, tallying 357 points (161g/196a) in 561 games ... Calle Rosen, who came to the Avalanche in that same trade with Kadri, began his NHL career with the Maple Leafs ... Tyson Barrie was a third-round selection (64th overall) of the Avalanche in 2009 and holds the franchise record for points (307), goals (75) and assists (232) by a defenseman during his eight years (484 games) with the club ... Alexander Kerfoot played his first two NHL seasons with Colorado (2017-19).

SEEING STARS IN NOVEMBER Nathan MacKinnon was named the NHL's Second Star for the month of November. He finished second in the NHL with 25 points (10g/15a) in 14 games despite the team missing two of its top producers from last season (Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog) for almost the entire month. MacKinnon’s 25 points were a career high for any month and set a franchise record for the month of November. It was the most points by an Avalanche player in a single calendar month since March 2000 (Joe Sakic 26). This was the third straight November that MacKinnon has been named one of the league's three stars, as he was the NHL's Second Star of the Month last November (2018) and the First Star in November of 2017. He has combined for 68 points (24g/44a) in 40 November games since 2017, the most of any player.

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH Cale Makar was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for November. He became the first Avalanche defenseman to ever be named NHL Rookie of the Month, and the first Colorado player since Gabriel Landeskog in February 2012. Makar led all NHL rookies and all NHL defensemen in points (16) and goals (7) in 14 games during the month. His 16 points were the third-most ever by an NHL rookie defenseman in November and the most by a rookie defenseman in ANY month since Alexei Zhitnik (19) in March of 1993 with the LA Kings. Makar's seven goals last month tied the franchise record for a defenseman in a single month and also equaled the third- most ever by an NHL rookie blueliner in one month. He scored three game-winning goals in November, the most by any rookie defenseman within a single calendar month in NHL history.

ALL HAIL CALE Cale Makar leads all NHL rookies with 26 points (8g/18a) in 26 games, the fourth-most ever by an NHL defenseman through his first 26 career regular-season games. He trails only Harry Cameron (36) from 1917-19 with the Toronto Arenas, Larry Murphy (29) in 1980-81 with Los Angeles and Hap Day (27) in 1924-25 with the Toronto St. Pats. Only two other rookie defensemen in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) scored at least eight goals through the first 25 games of their NHL career: Brad Maxwell (8) in 1977-78 with Minnesota and Barry Beck (11) in 1977-78 with the Colorado Rockies. Makar leads all rookies with three game-winning goals, which ties the franchise record for a rookie defender set by Aaron Miller in 1996-97. His eight goals overall are already the third-most in a single-season by a Colorado/Quebec rookie defender.

YOU HAD TO BE A BIG SHOT Nathan MacKinnon ranks second in the NHL with 127 shots. He led all players with 79 shots last month, which were the most ever by a Colorado player in a calendar month. Nathan recorded a career-high 12 shots on Nov. 1 vs. Dallas, tying the single-game franchise record set by Gabriel Landeskog on Jan. 9, 2019 at Calgary. It is the most shots by an NHL player in a game this year. MacKinnon, who led the NHL with a franchise-record 366 shots last season, has a shot in 177 consecutive games, the second longest active streak behind Dougie Hamilton (274).

LIGHTING THE LAMP As of Tuesday, Colorado was the highest scoring team in the league, averaging 3.73 goals-per-game. The Avalanche scored 50 goals in the month of November (tied for second behind Boston's 54), including 48 in the last 11 games. The Avs just scored 12 goals in a back-to-back, home-and-home sweep over the Blackhawks this past weekend, the most combined goals ever scored by Colorado in a back-to-back.

TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT The Avs are 8-3-1 at home this season. Colorado is 14-3-1 in its last 18 regular-season home games and 18-4-1 in the last 23 at Pepsi Center including playoffs.

HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT Colorado out-shot Edmonton 50-20 on Nov. 27. The 50 shots were a season high and the 20 shots against a season low. It marked the seventh 50+ shot performance since the franchise relocated to Denver and the first since April 4, 2017 vs. Chicago (51). The +30 shot differential equaled the second-highest in Colorado/Quebec franchise history, one short of the record:

EVERYBODY'S TALKIN 'BOUT THE NEW KID(S) IN TOWN Offseason additions Andre Burakovsky (11 goals), Joonas Donskoi (11) and Nazem Kadri (10) all rank among the Avalanche's top four in goal scoring, combining for 32 (or one-third) of the club's 97 total markers. All three forwards rank among the Avalanche's top-five point producers as well, as they've picked up 63 points (32g/31a) between them in 26 games.

WORKING OVERTIME Nathan MacKinnon has two OT winners this season and eight in his career, one behind Milan Hejduk for the most in franchise history. The single-season franchise record is three, a mark already tied by MacKinnon in 2017-18.

THE MORE THE MERRIER Four different Colorado goaltenders have earned a win in 2019-20, making this just the second Avalanche team to feature four different goaltenders with a victory in a single season (also 2005-06). No other NHL team has had four different winning goaltenders this year. In fact, the only other team to even have four goalies appear in a game is Vegas and the only teams to have three goalies with a win are Florida and Minnesota. Four netminders won a game for the Avs in the month of November, which included three different winning netminders in a span of a week from Nov. 12-19.

THIS DAY IN AVS HISTORY Dec. 4, 2011 - The Avalanche defeated the Red Wings, 4-2, at Pepsi Center to finish 5-3-0 on their eight-game homestand, the longest continuous homestand in Avalanche history.
