TONIGHT’S GAME The Flyers visit the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight in their 16th game of the season and eighth on the road. The Flyers are 8-5-2 on the season for 18 points and have points in four straight after a 3-2 overtime win over Montreal on Thursday night back in Philadelphia. Saturday, November 2, 2019 – Toronto 4, Flyers 3 (SO) at Wells Fargo Center: A goal from Andreas Johnsson in the 11th shootout round finally decided the evening’s proceedings in favor of Toronto. The Flyers rebounded from a Kasperi Kapanen goal 5:55 into the contest by scoring the game’s next two, both on the power play – Ivan Provorov tied it up with 4:58 left in the first and then Claude Giroux made it 2-1 at the 3:12 mark of the second. Jason Spezza then tied things up with 2:05 left in the second. Travis Sanheim restored the lead with his first goal of the year 31 seconds into the third period, but Toronto answered with a Mitchell Marner goal at the 5:03 mark. There was no further scoring through regulation and overtime. Then in the shootout, each goaltender stopped the first seven shooters before the teams both scored in round eight – Travis Konecny for the Flyers and Spezza for the Leafs. Johnsson closed out the game three rounds later. Brian Elliott absorbed the SOL despite making 23 saves in regulation and overtime and nine of 11 in the shootout. LAST GAME Thursday, November 7, 2019 – Flyers 3, Montreal 2 (OT) at Wells Fargo Center: Sean Couturier scored 55 seconds into overtime to lift the Flyers over the Canadiens. Philippe Myers opened the scoring with 7:09 left in the first period, and James van Riemsdyk then doubled the lead 49 seconds into the second period as the Flyers went on to outshoot the Canadiens 15-1 over the first 12+ minutes of the middle frame. But the Canadiens got the game’s next two goals, from with 7:16 left in the second and 4:05 into the third. Couturier’s goal came on the Flyers’ 43rd shot of the game off a feed from Travis Konecny. absorbed the loss with 40 saves, while Carter Hart turned away 22. The Flyers completed the game with no penalty minutes. It was just the sixth time in team history they’ve had 0 PIM in a game, but the third time in the last two seasons. Andy Andreoff was recalled by the Flyers yesterday and is available to make his Flyers debut tonight. Andreoff has three goals and four assists for seven points in 10 games this season with Lehigh Valley. Andreoff was last in the NHL in 2017-18 when he played 45 games for Los Angeles.

The Flyers have operated at 91.3 percent (21 for 23) on the penalty kill over the last eight games. The kill has been perfect in six of those seven games, and the Flyers did not allow a power play in the eighth. November is the busiest month of the season for the Flyers with 16 games on the schedule. Half of those 16 games are comprised of four sets of back-to-back contests.
