    Vision training for Goaltenders It's hard to imagine any NHL goalie getting ready to play or practice without a series of dynamic stretches and movements designed to warm up the key muscles required to stop pucks. For many goalies, though, the most important muscles are in their head. "Your biggest muscle as a goalie is your eyes," Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby said. "I do a lot of visual training in my pregame routine to warm up my eyes and keep them sharp. If you're not seeing it, nothing else matters. Your eyes are the basis of your whole game." Whether it's bouncing balls off a wall or standing at the bench hours before the game with his eyes darting around an empty arena, warming up the eyes is a big part of Holtby's well-documented pregame routine. He's hardly the only one. Spend enough time in the bowels of NHL arenas before a game and you will see goalies juggling as often as stretching. "I use it as a warmup for my eyes just to get my focus and concentration going, watching the ball spin, watching it into my hand," said Richard Bachman, who has seen time with the Vancouver Canucks this season in addition to playing in the American Hockey League. "I try to incorporate the vision and tracking that I use on the ice with a tennis ball." Increasingly, that focus on being able to better focus the eyes is extending beyond warmups as more NHL goalies, coaches and even teams add vision training to their offseason.

    Procedures to new PIHL RULE 8.3.E: VARSITY OVERTIME – In the event the game is tied at the end of regulation; 1) Teams play an additional overtime period of not more than three (3) minutes with the team scoring first declared the winner and being awarded an additional point. 2) The overtime period will be played with each team at 3-on-3 manpower (plus goaltender) for the full three-minute period. 3) There will be no intermission between the end of the third period and the beginning of the overtime period. 3-on-3 play will begin immediately once the referee is ready. 4) Goalies will not switch ends and remain in their 3rd period end for the entire overtime. 5) Manpowers during overtime will be adjusted to reflect the situation in the game, but at no time will a team have fewer than three (3) skaters on the ice during the overtime period. For example, if a team enters the overtime period on a power play, manpower would be adjusted from 5 on 4 at the end of regulation to 4 on 3 at the start of overtime. If a minor penalty is assessed during overtime, the teams will play 4 on 3. If a second minor penalty is assessed to the same team during overtime, the teams will play 5 on 3. 6) Clubs who pull their goaltender for an extra attacker during the overtime period (other than on a delayed penalty) will be subject to the potential forfeiture of their one (1) point earned for the tie at the end of regulation in the event the opposing team scores into the empty net.

Attending Phase 3 Media who will be attending Phase 3 at the Scotiabank Saddledome will need to make a member of the communications staff aware of their attendance 24 hours in advance of each day of training camp. A master list will be made for each on-ice session of media who have made their attendance known and media will be checked-in upon arrival. Media check-in time will be one hour proceeding the first on-ice session only. Media who arrive late may not be allowed entry into the building. Media are to enter through the West Concourse Entrance (across from the Stampede Corral). Parking will be available outside the West Concourse Entrance in the Uber drop-off and pick-up zone. Media will then be checked-in at the entrance and perform a mandatory temperature check and questionnaire before being allowed in the building.
