It is distinguished by having a basidiome with decurrent, distant, white lamellae with evident pink-lilac tinges, the non-depressed pileus at maturity and well developed catenulate cheilocystidia. A description, color photographs of fresh basidiomes and line drawings of relevant microscopic traits are provided. N. dominicanus is morphologically similar to Neopaxillus echinospermus, the type species of the genus. Based on comparative ITS-LSU rDNA gene sequence analyses, Neopaxillus, formerly placed in the Boletales, is considered within the Agaricales where it is sister to Crepidotus (Crepidotaceae), and N. dominicanus is supported as distinct from N. echinospermus. Finally, according to our morphological and molecular analyses, two collections of N. echinospermus from Mexico are referable to N. dominicanus. Singer (1948) described the genus Neopaxillus Singer to accommodate a single South American species, N. echinosporus Singer, characterized by a Phylloporus-like habit, distant and strongly decurrent lamellae, slightly bilateral hymenophoral trama, frequent clamp connections, and globose, echinulate brown spores. -

However, the rate of forest loss greatly exceeds the rate of species documentation and this increases the risk of losing macrofungi diversity to extinction. A field study was carried out in Kereita, Kikuyu Escarpment Forest, southern part of Aberdare range forest to determine effect of indigenous forest conversion to plantation forest on diversity of macrofungi. Macrofungi diversity was assessed in a 22 year old Pinus patula (Pine) plantation and a pristine indigenous forest during dry (short rains, December, 2014) and wet (long rains, May, 2015) seasons. -

Two field plots at each site were exposed to differing preservative chemistries via in-ground installations of treated wood stakes for approximately 50 years. The purpose of this study is to characterize soil fungal species and to determine if long term exposure to various wood preservatives impacts soil fungal community composition. Soil fungal communities were compared using amplicon-based DNA sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region of the rDNA array. ABSTRACT The results of a preliminary field survey of fungi can·ied out on Lundy between 11-18 October 2003 are reported and compared with previous records. One hundred and eight taxa were identified of which seventy five appear to be new records for the island, in spite of the very dry conditions during the survey. Habitat and resource preferences of the fungi are discussed, and suggesti ons made for further studies on Lundy. Keywords: Lundy, fungi, ecology, biodiversity. INTRODUCTION Although detailed studies of the lichen fl ora of Lundy have been published (Noon & Hawksworth, 1972; lames et al., 1995, 1996), the fungi of Lundy have remained little studied. Mcist existing data consisted of a series of lists published in the Annual Report s of the Lundy Field Society, beginning in 1970. We could onl y trace three earli er records of fungi on Lundy, from 1965 and 1967, by visiting members of the British Mycological Society. The obj ect of the present study was to start a more systematic in ventory of the diversity of fungi on Lundy, and the habitats they occupy on the island, and to begin a database of Lundy fungi for entry in the British Mycological Society U.K. -

As a result of field and laboratory studies, 73 species were identified. Seven (7) fungi belong to Pezizomycota and 66 to Agaricomycota. Of these fungi 55 represent new records for Forebalkan floristic region. Two (2) species includes in the Red List of fungi in Bulgaria: Clavicorona pyxidata (Pers. : Fr.) Doty, and Phyllotopsis nidulans (Pers. : Fr.) Singer. This paper presents the most up-to-date and extensive list of lignicolous macrofungi of mountain ridge Lisets, Forebalkan floristic region. According to the physical and geographical characteristics is situated within the Stara Planina (Balkan) region (Georgiev, 1985; Yordanova et al., 2002). Climatically the mountain ridge belonds to Temperate-continental climatic Zone (Velev, 2002). The highest points is peaks Kamen Lisets (1073 m) and Cherti grad (1283 m). The study area is covered mainly by natural forest due to the prevailing climatic and edaphic conditions and limited timber extraction. -

40 (2): (2016) 249-259 Original Scientific Paper Diversity of macromycetes in the Botanical Garden “Jevremovac” in Belgrade Jelena Vukojević✳, Ibrahim Hadžić, Aleksandar Knežević, Mirjana Stajić, Ivan Milovanović and Jasmina Ćilerdžić Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, Takovska 43, 11000 Belgrade, Serbia ABSTRACT: At locations in the outdoor area and in the greenhouse of the Botanical Garden “Jevremovac”, a total of 124 macromycetes species were noted, among which 22 species were recorded for the first time in Serbia. Most of the species belong to the phylum Basidiomycota (113) and only 11 to the phylum Ascomycota. Saprobes are dominant with 81.5%, 45.2% being lignicolous and 36.3% are terricolous. Parasitic species are represented with 13.7% and mycorrhizal species with 4.8%. Inedible species are dominant (70 species), 34 species are edible, five are conditionally edible, eight are poisonous and one is hallucinogenic (Psilocybe cubensis). A significant number of representatives belong to the category of medicinal species. These species have been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine of Far Eastern nations. Current studies confirm and explain knowledge gained by experience and reveal new species which produce biologically active compounds with anti-microbial, antioxidative, genoprotective and anticancer properties. Among species collected in the Botanical Garden “Jevremovac”, those medically significant are: Armillaria mellea, Auricularia auricula.-judae, Laetiporus sulphureus, Pleurotus ostreatus, Schizophyllum commune, Trametes versicolor, Ganoderma applanatum, Flammulina velutipes and Inonotus hispidus. Some of the found species, such as T. versicolor and P. ostreatus, also have the ability to degrade highly toxic phenolic compounds and can be used in ecologically and economically justifiable soil remediation. -
