System requirements for the use of VM 2017

The Ad-Management is a mission-critical application. To guarantee trouble-free opera- tions, you should solely use brand-products that are cleared for the intended use, like database server and client usage, and certified for the used by the hard- ware manufacturer. Only brand-products offer manufacturer-guarantee for the installation and operation. One of our certified partners or muellerPrange can support you during the planning of the purchase of new and/or expansion of your existing hardware. However, muellerPrange can not offer support for the use of specific hardware. About minimum configuration : The system configuration called “minimum configura- tion” in this document describes systems that support the most common functions of VM. Nevertheless, the resulting performance on this kind of system may not be ideal and may lead to delays when switching form windows or substantial latency during queries and mass processing of data.

Operating environment The VM server application has to run on a dedicated Microsoft Windows ser- system, that is used exclusively to provide the VM services. The parallel use of other applications on a VM server is not supported. 32-bit Microsoft Windows Operating Systems are not compatible with the 64-bit architecture of the VM server application. SERVER VIRTUALIZATION: It is also possible to use of VM server applications in a virtual environment, as long as the virtual guest systems fulfill the hardware and software requirements and offer identical performance metrics. In addition to actual available proces- sor power for the virtual system, it should be guaranteed that a sufficient hard disk transfer rate is available. muellerPrange can not offer support for the use of specific virtualization solutions. * The VM server application is a 64-bit application. It is recommended to individually adjust the cache settings of the VM application on systems equipped with than 8 GB RAM.

SQL Connection: The functions module VM CVM allows you to automatically transfer application data from VM to SQL databases via ODBC interfaces. MySQL DB 5.5 or higher with MySQL ODBC Connector 5.3.4 or higher.

Components of the VM Services infrastructure VM Web Services Client

Explanation The VM Web Services client is the central communication interface between VM server and applications that are using the VM Web Services.

Hard- and Software As described under hard- and software requirements for ‘VM Client (4D v16)’. muellerPrange recommends using the most productive CPU possible and a network connection with a high throughput. When utilizing the minimum configuration described under hard- and software requirements for ‘VM Client (4D v16) – minimal configuration’, poor reply times have to be expected. We recommend the use of hardware as described under ‘VM Client (4D v16) – optimal configuration’.

Licensing For every VM client that is to be used as a VM Web Services Client, a 4D v16 Web Services Expansion Bundle (OEM) license is required, in addition to the actual VM client license.

Operating systems Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 2016 (Standard or Datacenter, v1607 or v1703, each with desktop experience) Microsoft Desktop systems only support a limited number of parallel TCP/IP connections.
