Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel 100 responden dengan ketentuan 30 konsumen UII, 29 konsumen UAD, 15 konsumen UAJY, 14 konsumen UTY dan 12 konsumen UAY. Teknik pengujian instrumen dalam penelitian ini yaitu uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas, sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah Indeks Kepuasan Pelanggan (IKP) yang hasilnya berasal dari hasil Kenyataan dikurangi hasil Harapan data dan uji Independent Sample T-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : 1) Konsumen pengguna Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel merasa sangat puas dengan kualitas produk pada Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel, 2) Konsumen Wardah Aloe Vera Gel merasa sangat puas dengan kualitas produk pada Wardah Aloe Vera Gel, 3) Tidak terdapat perbedaan kepuasan antara konsumn Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel dan konsumen Wardah Aloe Vera Gel.     Asian International Studies Review Vol. 18 No.1 (June 2017): 153-169 153 Received March 15, 2017 Revised May 10, 2017 Accepted May 20, 2017 Hallyu at a Crossroads: The Clash of Korea’s Soft Power Success and China’s Hard Power Threat in Light of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) System Deployment HANNAH JUN* The past two decades have witnessed the remarkable success of Hallyu, or the Korean Wave, with Korea welcoming a large influx of foreign visitors and benefiting from massive consumption of products ranging from Korean television and film, K-pop and lifestyle products. A more recent announcement by CJ E&M points to an even more aggressive plan for regional ubiquity, as encapsulated by Hallyu 4.0. Simultaneously, we have already felt some of the effect of policy changes in China – a core Hallyu market – as a response to Korea’s plan to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. In this sense, we see the stirrings of a clash between Korean soft power and Chinese hard power, and are uncertain who will emerge on top. This paper examines the broad success of Hallyu from key theoretical perspectives, while addressing linkages between Korean corporations and cultural power/influence that have led to an announcement such as Hallyu 4.0. This paper also highlights the recent tensions between Korea and China, specifically with respect to THAAD deployment, and outlines potential implications for businesses and policymakers through preliminary scenarios. One of the most popular in the community is social media. Social media has now become a major need for humanity. The role of social media is actually very much and not limited to individuals, but can be for a business entity. Nowadays, there are still many traditional companies that are not maximizing or not using social media to promote their products and still harsh on conservative or traditional marketing methods. Social media, as the times develop it becomes a competitive necessity to expand their territory to online market. According to Statista, in 2016, Indonesia is one of the most astounding number of web user in the world among every country, where 132.7 million out of the nation’s all out population of about 260 million were active web user. These days purchasers are self- coordinated. They research about the company brand, evaluate product, product service online or through their network before making their purchase decisions. Therefore, social media can be the outlet for the company to represent product, enhance brand reputation, brand awareness and user management. Where those factors can frequently influence the customer purchase decision. Customer purchase decision is highly influence by advertisement through social media and recommendation or review from electronic word of mouth or buzzword. Therefore, the company are enhancing the customers relying on social media for their purchases. Therefore, social media marketing can have positive effect on customer purchase decision (Prasath & Yoganathen, 2018).

Innisfree adalah merek kosmetik berorientasi naturalisme. Adapun pencetus brand ini adalah Sung-Whan Suh yang percaya pada kekuatan dari bahan alami untuk kesehatan kulit. Sung-Whan Suh adalah pendiri dari perusahaan kosmetik dan perawatan kulit ternama di Korea Selatan yaitu Amorepacific Corporation. Innisfree sendiri berada dalam naungan perusahaan Amorepacific Corporation bersama dengan brand- brand ternama lainya seperti: Leneige, Sulwhasoo, Etude House, Manonde, Primera, Odyssey. Innisfree sendiri adalah sebuah brand asal Korea Selatan yang bergerak dalam bidang kosmetik dan perawatan kulit yang berbahan dasar alami dan organik. Bahan dasar yang digunakan dalam pembuatan produk kosmetik dan perawatan kulit ini berasal dari kekayaan alam Pulau Jeju. Pulau Jeju adalah sebuah pulau kecil yang masih sangat asri, yang terletak di pantai selatan Korea Selatan. Pulau ini dikenal sebagai pulau yang memiliki udara yang segar, matahari yang hangat, dan air yang jernih. Dwi Hayu Agustini Soegijapranata Catholic University [email protected], 087731611763 Abstract This research aims at knowing the influence of country of origin (COO) and brand image on purchase decision of Etude House, a South Korean cosmetic brand. A sample of 100 consumers of Etude House was the respondents that were selected using snowball method. The questionnaire were distributed to women consumers who live in Semarang and have been using the products in the last three months. Multiple regression analysis was to see if the influence of COO and brand image on purchase decision is significant. The results show that COO and brand image had positive and significant influence on the purchase decision of Etude House products. Keywords: brand image, cosmetics, country of origin, purchase decision, South Korea INTRODUCTION Cosmetic industry in Indonesia had increased steadily since 2009 to 2013. Its sales increased 32.5% from Rp7.56 trilliun in 2009 to Rp11.3 triliun in 2013 (Kementrian Perindustrian, 2013). One indication of this is the increase of local and international cosmetic brands marketed in Indonesia. The local brands such as Wardah, Sari Ayu, Mustika Ratu, and Viva have to compete with international brands coming from different countries. Table 1 presents the top ten international brands conquering Indonesian market and their country of origin. The top ten brands are originally from western countries and those from The United States dominated the Indonesian market.

Celebrities’ presentation of authentic self-images is especially important for fostering emotional attachment and forming parasocial relationships for fanbase maintenance. This is particularly important for the Korean pop culture industry where globalization is the industry’s ultimate goal. This capstone project aims to explore how K-pop celebrities use social media to promote authentic self- branding that attracts global audiences through examining specific forms of authenticity that members of the K-pop group SuperM uses on their personal Instagram accounts and the fan/celebrity interactions that result from the posts. Findings of the study show four qualities of authenticity as well as four aspects of culture that are prominent in the posts.
