Job Summary The University of Colorado Museum of Natural History and the Department of Anthropology invite applications for a tenure-track, joint position as Curator of Archaeology and Assistant Professor. Applicants should have a PhD with specialization in Archaeology, and museum experience. The position includes research, curating collections, and teaching archaeology and museum studies courses. The museum houses outstanding Southwest and Plains archaeological collections. Our strengths are in Southwestern material culture research and publication, NAGPRA implementation, collaborative research with Native North American communities, and advances in contemporary archaeological and museological theory.
Who We Are The Anthropology Section of the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History has outstanding Southwest and Plains archaeological collections. Our strengths are in Southwestern material culture research and publication, NAGPRA implementation, collaborative research with Native North American communities, and advances in contemporary archaeological and museological theory.
The Museum is located on the main campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, and houses the largest natural history collection in the Rocky Mountains. Currently, more than four million objects are categorized into five disciplines: Anthropology, Botany, Entomology, Paleontology, and Zoology. The museum's Anthropology Section manages more than 1.5 million archaeological and ethnographic objects, and nearly 50,000 photographic images relevant to the Anthropology collections.
