    Page 1 SEDER MEAL PLANNING So you want to have a traditional Passover Seder dinner? It is very advantageous to start at least 2 months in advance of the date for the dinner. If you are using this as an outreach to witness to nonbelievers, is also wise to plan to have it on the second night of Passover week so that you can invite your Jewish friends who probably will be having their family dinner on the first night of Passover. After you have picked the night then you must find a room big enough for the number of people you will be able to handle. There should be easy access to a kitchen also for cooking, and clean up after the meal. We have found that the table size should not exceed 8 so that each table could represent a family unit. Decide whether to use paper and plastic or more formal china, silverware and glass glasses. Linen table cloths or paper must also be chosen. You will need to have people in charge of music, food, program, hospitality, set up, clean up, and publicity. In the following pages I will tell you how to plan and prepare the food part of the Seder. First pick the menu. I have given as an example the Seder we did in 2002 for 180 people. Most churches want to have lamb as the meat, but do not realize that Jesus is the sacrifice and there is no more sacrifice for sin so there is no lamb for Passover. There is also no more temple to sacrifice the lamb at.

    ROSH HASHANAH & YOM KIPPUR REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT: Remove everything from the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature before reheating. BEEF SHORT RIBS Bake covered in preheated 350°F oven for 25 minutes. Increase time for larger serving. FILET OF BEEF Roast uncovered in preheated 375°F oven for 12-15 minutes. We recommend serving sliced filet at room temperature. FREE-RANGE ROASTED CHICKEN Preheat oven to 350°F; roast uncovered for 10-12 minutes. WHOLE ROASTED CAPON Preheat oven to 375°F; roast uncovered for 20-25 minutes until skin starts to sizzle. Things to be taken care of( or bought )before Erev Yo m Kippur: -who have a hard time fast (ל”ע A pregnant or nursing woman (or someone who is ill .1 ing should first consult a doctor regarding their situations and only then consult the Rav. This should be taken into account enough time before Yom Kippur so that it can be properly taken care of. Anyone who is on medication that must be taken every day should do the same. 2. Help in the home: women who have a hard time fasting, and especially with children around the house… should arrange for adequate assistance for the day of Yom Kippur. It is better for them to stay home and rest rather than going to shul and get tired etc. 3. Shoes for Yom Kippur: To ensure before-hand that everyone in the household (small children included) have non-leather shoes for Yom Kippur. 4. Kittel: Ensure the father has a Kittel to wear. (The first year after one’s wedding a Kit- tel is not worn). 5.   • Farm Share Newsletter 2015 Week 12
    Dear Farm Share Members, Thanks to everyone who came out to the Westbury Garden yesterday to go on farm tours, pick strawberries, and visit with Westbury farmers and Plant it Forward staff. It was a beautiful and windy day and we had a wonderful time! We had farm tours every 15 minutes or so. Groups of 10-15 learned about our program and garden at Westbury, learned about our strawberry project with Texas Ag Extension, and then were able to pick their own container of strawberries. Once their container was full, they weighed and recorded the weight of the strawberries. The total amount of strawberries picked on Sunday was…drum roll please…. 436 oz. or 27.25 lbs.! These data will be given to the Texas Ag Extension. We also munched on a salad made mostly of Plant It Forward produce. We received feedback from a few folks that this was just what they needed to get them out to the farm. Other folks were happy that their children were able to make a connection between their weekly vegetables and the farm where they are grown.
