How to Export Contacts from Mozilla Thunderbird and How to Import Them to Either Thuderbird Or Outlook HOW TO EXPORT CONTACTS FROM MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD AND HOW TO IMPORT THEM TO EITHER THUDERBIRD OR OUTLOOK After activating the Aalto E-mail, one might wonder how to transfer the contact from TKK Thunderbird to Aalto Thunderbird or Outlook. This document describes how to do it. Screen captures used in these instructions are taken from version 3.0.4 of Thunderbird and Microsoft Outlook 2010. The instructions can also be easily applied to other versions of these programs. 1. Export Contacts from Mozilla Thunderbird In Thunderbird select Tools menu Addressbook. In the opening window, first select the Address Book which contacts you want to export. (If you have several Address Books in Thunderbird, you have to export each of them separately): Then select from Tools menu Export In the opening window, choose Comma Separated as the ”Save as Type”. Choose also the destination where you want to save the exported file and name it: 2. Import the exported contacts to Mozilla Thunderbird In Thunderbird select Tools menu Addressbook. In the opening window, select from Tools menu Import In the opening window, select Address books as the type of material to be imported and click NEXT: In the next phase, select Text file (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt) as the type of file and click NEXT Browse for the file you exported and named in the part 1. of this document, select it and click OPEN In the opening window, you can select which information per user you want to import. If you don’t change the selection, all the details will be imported. Click OK. You will get the following information after a succesfull importation. Click FINISH and the imported addresses should now be visible in your Thunderbird Address Book. 3. Import the exported contacts to Microsoft Outlook 2010 In outlookissa select from File menu Open Import In the opening window choose Import from another program or file and click NEXT Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) as the file type and click NEXT In order to avoid duplicate information after import, select Do not import duplicate items and click Browse Browse for the file you exported and named in the part 1. of this document, select it and click OK Select where you want to import the contacts. The correct selection in most cases is Contacts which is the Outlook Address Book. Click NEXT You will be show a summary of your previous selections. Click FINISH The contacts should now be successfully imported in to your Outlook Address Book. .
