What's New in SeaMonkey 1.0

This document outlines a few of the new features implemented in SeaMonkey 1.0, important bugfixes and any new problems. See the "rough changelog" for a more comprehensive list of 1.0 fixes. Changes made in 1.0 Alpha and 1.0 Beta are also listed here, since 1.0 Beta was feature-complete. These changes are relative to Mozilla 1.8b1. New Features and Fixes Browser

* Tabs can now be rearranged by dragging and dropping them. (bug 105885) * When you close a tab, the browser will select the tab which you last selected if you have not selected or opened any other tabs since the current tab was opened and you have the "Switch to new tabs opened from links" preference enabled (bug 307126).

Seamonkey.doc Page 36 of 41 driver you may be able to workaround the problem by setting your screen to Thousands of colors rather than Millions. You may also try getting the latest ATI driver at http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html

Seamonkey.doc Page 34 of 41 Before you install Before you install

You can safely install Mozilla with other Internet software, such as Communicator, , , or , and . Mozilla can import user data from other Internet clients; however, import may not work if you uninstalled the client first. If you wish to migrate from another Internet client to Mozilla, we recommend that you uninstall the client after you have both installed Mozilla and have migrated your user data. For more details, read Migrating from another Internet client.

Note: To avoid incompatibility problem with previous versions, the Mozilla installer will prompt you to delete the install directory if it is not empty. Answer NO if you put your profile or other personal files in the install directory, otherwise the files will be deleted. Users who put profiles in the default location are not affected. If you have or 7 installed

Do NOT share profiles between Mozilla and Netscape 6 or 7. Mozilla and Netscape 6 or 7 share the same profile registry and directory. However, a profile created by one may be incompatible with another. Mozilla automatically uses your Netscape 6 or 7 profile unless you have multiple profiles, in which case Mozilla prompts you to choose a profile.

To avoid accidentally opening Mozilla with your Netscape profile, create a new, extra profile using your Netscape’s Profile Manager before installing Mozilla. If you have a previous version of Mozilla installed

Before installing a new version of Mozilla, you should uninstall your previous version first. If you have a third-party extension installed, particularly the , you should also completely delete your Mozilla install directory before making a new install. Do not install over an old Mozilla version.

Following the uninstall instructions in this document should not affect your profile data (unless your profile files are in a custom location).

System recommendation

Seamonkey.doc Page 33 of 41 I cannot install Mozilla on Mac OS X

Make sure that extensions are not turned off. The QuickTime extension must be on. I cannot uncheck optional components during installation

If you are installing to a directory where another version of Mozilla was already installed, then every component you have installed becomes a required component. To remove optional component such as Chatzilla, uninstall first and then install again. I receive error Unable to import mailboxes, cannot create proxy object for destination mailboxes when importing mail

Mozilla does not support special character (e.g. / and #) in mail folders. If you receive the error, open your mail client and rename your folders. Then try importing again.

To avoid accidentally opening Mozilla with your Netscape profile, create a new, extra profile using your Netscape’s Profile Manager before installing Mozilla.

It is worth repeating that you should not share profiles between Mozilla and Netscape 6 or 7. AOL Mail and Netscape

You can use Mozilla's mail client to access AOL Mail. To set up your AOL account on Mozilla Mail & Newsgroups, create a IMAP mail account, set the incoming server to imap..com, and set the outgoing server to smtp.aol.com. For accounts with AOL outside of U.S. and CompuServe 2000, see http://members.aol.com/adamkb/aol/mailfaq/imap/#foreign for server addresses. For instructions on how to set up an IMAP account, consult Mozilla's on-screen Help.

Netscape 6 and 7 has Netscape WebMail integrated into its mail client. Mozilla does not have such integration, but you can access Netscape WebMail via the Web at http://webmail.netscape.com. Importing user data from AOL

Mozilla cannot import data from AOL directly. To import mail saved on your computer (Filing Cabinet) and addresses from AOL, you must use third-party utilities to export your data in formats Mozilla can import. You may try the utilities listed in:

http://www.emailman.com/conversion/

(mozilla.org does not recommend or support any software listed on the .)

For general instructions on importing mail and addresses, read Migrating from another mail client.

Migrating from Microsoft Internet Explorer

Migrating from Microsoft Internet Explorer is easy. Mozilla automatically imports your Internet Explorer Favorites. To access them, open the Bookmarks menu and select Imported IE Favorites.

Converting additional profiles

To convert an additional Communicator profile for use with Mozilla, first open the Profile Manager. If Mozilla is already running, open the Tools menu and choose Switch Profiles...; otherwise:

* On Mac OS, hold down the and open Mozilla from the Finder or the Dock.

In the Profile Manager dialog, select the profile you want to convert and click Use Profile. A dialog will walk you through the conversion process.

To convert your address books, follow the instructions described in the previous section. Deleting old profiles

Netscape Communicator’s uninstaller does not remove your old profiles. On Windows and Linux, to remove your old profiles, delete the users sub- directory in Communicator’s original install directory. Migrating from Netscape 6 or 7

Your Netscape 6 or 7 profiles will be available to Mozilla. However, profiles between Netscape 6 or 7 and Mozilla can cause problems.

Seamonkey.doc Page 26 of 41 If you have 4.5 or later installed, Mozilla automatically converts the default profile (but except for address books) for use with Mozilla.

Note: converting Communicator profiles requires that Communicator is still installed on your computer. If you have already uninstalled Communicator, reinstall it again so you can convert your old profiles. After you have converted your old profiles, you can uninstall Communicator.

Importing address book

To import your address book from your Communicator profile, first export it in the LDIF format. To do this:

1.

Open Address Book in Communicator. 2.

In Address Book, open the File menu and choose Export. 3.

In the Export dialog, choose type LDIF (*.ldif) .

Type in an identifiable filename that will be used as the address book’s name upon import.

Seamonkey.doc Page 25 of 41

Certain pages (such as ones that set frames) can't be edited. However, you are still able to choose the Edit Page option in the File menu for such pages. An editor window opens, but you are unable to edit the page.

Edit|PasteAs function is not functioning. (Bugs 73286, 41547)

You can not print HTML Source. (Bug 82239)

Some shortcut keys do not function properly. (Bug list)

Hourglass does not show when application is busy. (Bug 83300)

Some icons do not render in Show All Tags mode. (Bug 88036)

List editing can cause nested lists to outdent to next level list. (Bug 98547)

JavaScript

Once you've floated all the views out of the main window, no drop targets remain to bring them back. If you have "Save Default Layout On Exit" checked, and you exit, you will appear to be stuck like this. (Bug 151785)

As a workaround, show the Interactive Session from the Show->View/ Hide menu, and type "restore-layout factory".

Migrating Migrating from other Internet client software

Mozilla can import data directly from other popular Internet clients such as Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, and Eudora. Mozilla can also import data in several standard file formats, so migrating from other client software is also possible.

Mozilla co-exists well with other Internet programs, so uninstalling them is unnecessary.

Migrating from Netscape Communicator

Seamonkey.doc Page 24 of 41 LDAP directories with ldif extensions may appear after migration from Communicator 4.x. (Bug 94645)

SeaMonkey may temporarily during LDAP if network connectivity is broken. Specifically, if the LDAP server in question is unreachable (network connectivity problems, including taking a laptop outside a firewall), the entire app will hang when attempting to contact that browser. The app will begin responding again after about 10 seconds (the length of the TCP timeout). (Bug 79509)

Offline Mail

Moving/Copying a downloaded message (while offline) will result in not being able to read the message at the new folder while you are offline. Workaround: Go online to read it, then re-download the message to have it accessible when you are offline. (Bug 78809)

When starting SeaMonkey, if you only have one profile, both of the Offline preferences for startup mode ("Ask me if I want online or offline mode", or "Use my previous online/offline state") do not work. SeaMonkey will always start in online mode. To go offline, from the File menu, choose Work Offline. (Bug 82487)

Composer

Pasting text at the beginning of a does not work (Bug 299343)

When Publishing in Composer, if the Publishing URL, file name, username, or contain any special characters (such as "@") that need to be escaped, then Composer creates a duplicate site entry each time you publish the document. To work around this bug, choose the original site name from the Site Name list in the Publish dialog box before publishing the document again. For example, some ISP users have usernames that are also their addresses, e.g., "[email protected]". After publishing to this site, the next time you use the Publish dialog, the username from the document URL will appear as "janedoe%40ispname.net" (the "@" was escaped during publishing). Since Composer can't find this entry, it creates a duplicate site name. (Bug 141819)

You may not be able to simultaneously edit a document using both Composer and another editor. (Bug 27820)

Seamonkey.doc Page 23 of 41 you may be able to see headers for messages in the account's Inbox if you have previously checked one of these accounts in Netscape 6/7, but you will be unable to interact with the messages. To access your AOL Mail, WebMail, or Netscape Instant Messenger, you need to use Netscape 6/7. Attachments

Attaching RTF files to may result in them being sent such that most readers will not be able to read them. If you to send RTF attachments, you should go to Edit>Preferences>Navigator>Helper Applications, select "New Type", and enter:

MIME Type: application/rtf Description: Rich Text Document Extension: rtf and then select OK to close the dialogs. Address Book

SeaMonkey does not import Communicator 4.x addressbooks. (Bug 35509)

To import Outlook address books, you must have the default mail client set to "Microsoft Outlook" in Microsoft Internet Explorer. (Bug 90206)

Pop and IMAP

You must exit and restart SeaMonkey to see the effect of a change to the option: "show All IMAP mail folders" or "show only subscribed IMAP mail folders." To access this option: choose the Advanced in the Server section of the Account Settings dialog box. (Bug 38943) News

The Subscribe dialog box may not work with servers that require . If you open a password-protected newsgroup you may be prompted more than once for the user name and password combination. LDAP

Setting a LDAP server to use for autocomplete may not work correctly - a work around for this is to set it for each account individually (see bug 317566).

Seamonkey.doc Page 22 of 41 View Source

On Macintosh, the horizontal scrollbar in the View Source window might be missing. Resize the window to see the scrollbar. (Bug 56488) Outlook Web Access (OWA)

The Forward, Reply, Reply All, and Reply to Folder buttons may not work. This happens if you have some form of popup blocking enabled. A telltale sign of this is a small explosion icon in the statusbar. An easy way to fix this is to select Tools > Popup Manager > Allow Popups From This Site. (Bug 102476)

Mail & Newsgroups General Mail and News Issues

Attempting to compose, forward, or reply to a message may result in a non-functional compose window. To work around it, open a new compose window, close the new window, and then close non-functional one. If you try again, it will work. (Bug 307672 )

Moving or copying a labeled message will not retain label in destination when filing across accounts:

1. IMAP to any other account (including Local Folders): Message labels are lost. 2. POP to POP (including Local Folders) is OKAY. 3. POP to IMAP: Message labels are lost. 4. Copy Newsgroup messages to any account: Message labels are lost. (Bug 133795)

In the Mail/News Account Settings: Server Settings dialog box, any changes you make to local directory settings won't take effect until you exit and restart SeaMonkey (Bug 2654)

The Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings dialog box does not display correctly at lower monitor resolutions such as 800 by 600 or 640 by 480. If possible, increase your monitor's display resolution above 800 by 600. (Bug 82122) AOL Mail and Netscape WebMail Accounts

SeaMonkey does not integrate with AOL Mail and Netscape WebMail, as Netscape 6/7 do. If you share your Netscape 6/7 profile with SeaMonkey,

Seamonkey.doc Page 21 of 41 For security reasons, SeaMonkey does not allow connections to certain ports. To override this on a per-port basis, add a comma separated list of ports to defaults/all.js (in your SeaMonkey installation directory). Note that this pref only works in the all.js file in the SeaMonkey installation directory and it affects all users of the installation. It does not work if you add it to the prefs.js or user.js files in your personal profile directory. For example, to unblock ports 1, 3, and 7, use the following line: pref("network.security.ports.banned.override", "1,3,7");

For security reasons, SeaMonkey does not allow web content to link to local files. An error like: Security Error: Content at may not load or link to file:///something will appear in the console. If you need to follow links to local paths it is recommended that you drag the link to the location bar and then drop it on the webpage. If you really don't like the security check and are willing to risk a site having access to all files on your system and that your system can access then you may add the site's name to a policy (say one called "policyname") as described in the CAPS documentation and set the "capability.policy.policyname.checkloaduri.enabled" preference to "allAccess".

Performing a search with may cause the sidebar to be displayed. To prevent this, make sure "Open the Search tab in the Sidebar when search results are avaliable" checkbox (Edit->Preferences, Navigator- >Internet Search) is unchecked. (Bug 252802) Accessing and Displaying Web Pages

Pages that appear to be rendered incorrectly may be due to standards compliance issues. See the Netscape DevEdge and Mozilla Evangelism sites for more details.

While enabling HTTP pipelining may significantly improve page load times, it can prevent some websites from loading correctly. If you experience problems loading a website, please verify that HTTP pipelining is disabled and try again (see Preferences->Advanced->HTTP Networking). HTTP pipelining is disabled by default.

Downloading Files

If the user is downloading a file in the background and the user exits from the File menu, the download will abort without warning. Workaround: Only exit after downloads finish. (Bug 28385)

Seamonkey.doc Page 20 of 41 some Flash sites. A free upgrade is available at the Flash Player Download Center for OS X.

Do not share a profile between Netscape and SeaMonkey nightly builds. Doing this can lead to unpredictable results, some of which may include loss of Search settings and preferences and unchecked growth of the Bookmarks file (large enough to freeze your system). It is best to create a new profile for each or manually copy (and change the name) an existing profile. (Bug 137164) Printing

Print preview may behave incorrectly if you change the scaling or page orientation. (Bug 311028)

In Print Preview, plugins are not shown. (Bug 134002)

In Profile Manager, if you rename a profile to a name you previously used, all your preferences may be lost. Workaround: If you rename a profile, use a unique name. (Bug 113203)

If problems occur during installation and your Communicator profile was not copied and converted, you can still use your profile. Launch SeaMonkey from the command line, adding the "-installer" option (that is, type "seamonkey.exe -installer" on the command line), or reinstall SeaMonkey to see the profile manager dialog again. Proxies

SeaMonkey only accepts for manual proxies. If you migrate a Communicator 4 profile, you will need to change the settings manually. Install Instructions Macintosh

System Requirements

* Mac OS X 10.2 or later * PowerPC processor (266 MHz or faster recommended) * 64 MB RAM (256 MB recommended) * 100 MB of free hard disk space (significantly less space is required if you reduce the cache size)

Installation Instructions (Mac OS X)

To install SeaMonkey by downloading the SeaMonkey disk image, follow these steps:

1. Click the seamonkey-1.0.en-US.mac.dmg link to download it to your machine. By default, the file is downloaded to your desktop. 2. Double-click on the .dmg file, and drag the SeaMonkey icon onto your hard disk. 3. We recommend that you copy it to the Applications folder. 4. Now eject the disk image. 5. If you like, you can drag SeaMonkey to your dock to have it easily accessible at all times.

Seamonkey.doc Page 13 of 41 Locate the entries for browser.cache.disk.parent_directory, mail.directory, mail.root.imap, mail.root.nntp, mail.root.none, mail.root.pop3, mail.newsrc_root, and news.directory (you may not have all of them). Delete these lines. 4.

Save the file and open Mozilla with the new profile. 5.

Open Messenger (you will find that none of your messages are imported yet.) In Messenger, open the Edit menu and choose “Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings...” 6.

In the Accounts pane on the left, navigate to the Local Folders account. On the right pane, change Local Directory to reflect the new profile directory. 7.

In the Accounts pane, navigate to each mail account. Navigate to Server Settings and change Local Directory to reflect the new profile directory. 8.

If you have newsgroup subscription(s), navigate to Server Settings for each news account. Change newsrc file and Local Directory to reflect the new profile directory. 9.

Choose OK. 10.

Exit Mozilla and then restart it. All messages should now be imported.

7.10. Can I share a profile with my copy of , or with an earlier version of Mozilla?

Do not share a profile with Netscape 6 or 7. Sharing profiles between different versions of Mozilla can lead to profile corruption

Seamonkey.doc Page 12 of 41 Most of Mozilla profile files are in the same formats on all platforms, so it is possible to transport a profile across two different operating systems. To move a profile to a different machine:

1. First, follow the instructions in 7.6 ,q>How do I back up my profile data? to make a copy of your profile data. 2. Copy your profile files to the target machine. The profile location must be complete (BASE, NAME, and SALT). If possible, keep the profile locations the same between the old machine and target machine. If they are different, you will need to edit the profile manually. 3. In the target machine, open the Profile Manager. 4. Choose Create Profile, and then choose Next. 5. Enter a profile name. 6. Choose the Choose Folder button and navigate to the target profile location (BASE+NAME, excluding SALT). 7. Choose Finish.

Hint to system administrators: if you want to copy the same profile as the default to many systems with CLEAN Mozilla installations, you can skip all these steps simply by copying all contents of the profile directory, including Registry.dat.

The opening screen of the Profile Manager reappears, with the new profile listed and highlighted. If the profile locations (BASE+NAME+SALT) are exactly the same between the old and target , you can start up your browser with the new profile by choosing Start Mozilla. If not, you will need to edit the profile configuration file:

Editing configuration file

1. Exit the Profile Manager. 2.

In your profile directory, locate the prefs.js file and open it with a text editor such as Notepad or SimpleText. The configuration file is a list of entries like:

user_pref("", );

3.

Seamonkey.doc Page 11 of 41

Junk filters

User preferences

The main Mozilla configuration file is prefs.js. Save this file.

Customization files

Save user.js, chrome/userContent., and chrome/userChrome.css if you use them to customize Mozilla.

7.7. How do I restore my profile data from backup?

Normally, all you need to do is to restore with the backup copies of your profile files.

Exit the browser, and replace the relevant files in your profile directory with the backup copies. If after restart the profile data still appear to be lost, you may have a corrupted chrome cache file, in which case, exit your browser, delete the .mfl, xul.mfasl, or XUL FastLoad File file in your profile directory, and restart Mozilla again.

7.8. How do I rescue my data from a corrupted profile?

Item moved. See troubleshooting guide:

7.9. How do I transport my profile to a different machine?

Seamonkey.doc Page 10 of 41 transport profile data will be easier if you keep the SALT and NAME directory hierarchy.

The following subsection describes how you can selectively back up your data:

Mail

Mail messages are stored in the Mail (or ImapMail) sub-directory (e.g. /Mail/pop.mail.yahoo.com/). To back up your mail messages, save the files without extension, for example INBOX. To back up filters too, save the rules.dat file. The *.msf files are index files that will be automatically regenerated if removed. Save the entire Mail directory if you are uncertain what to save. News

News settings and messages are stored in the News sub-directory (e.g. /News/news.mozilla.org/). Your subscribed groups are stored in the *.rc file (e.g. news.mozilla.org.rc). The complete groupslist is stored in hostinfo.dat (e.g. /News/news.mozilla.org/hostinfo.dat). *.msf files store message summaries. To back up news, save the *.rc, *.dat, and *.msf files.

Address book

In your profile directory, save abook.mab (personal address book) and history.mab (collected addresses). If you have more than one address book, save all *.mab files.

Bookmarks

Save the bookmarks.html file.

Saved password data

Username and password data is stored in 12345678.s (the number part is random). Save the file.

Saved form data

Saved form data is stored in 12345678.w (the number part is random). Save the file.

Macintosh

On Mac OS X, a typical profile location is: ~/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/

7.4. What is the @$%#@$%#.slt directory in my profile directory?

This is called salting. Profile data is stored in a randomly named directory to make it difficult for malicious programs to find profile data (see bug 56002 and 97180)

7.5. How do I move my Netscape 4.x profile to Mozilla?

The Profile Manager should detect and import a profile from Netscape 4.5 or later automatically while installing, except for the address book and any security certificates.

You can import your bookmarks by hand with Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Tools | Import. Since the bookmarks file is an HTML file, it can also easily be edited by hand.

To move your address book, export it from Netscape 4.x as text (.ldif) and import it into Mozilla as LDIF.

Your mail files (the files with no extensions) can be copied directly from your Netscape 4 profile to the Mail folder in your Mozilla profile.

7.6. How do I back up my profile data?

Occasionally, your browser software or your computer system may malfunction and cause important profile data to be lost. Therefore we recommand that you make a backup copy of your profile periodically. Backup frequency will depend on your usage.

All your user data are stored in your profile directories (see 7.3 Where is my profile stored?). If you are not sure what to back up, or if you want to back up everything, back up the entire directory content. Restoring or

Seamonkey.doc Page 8 of 41 Your profile is your identity in Mozilla. Your profile contains your bookmarks, mail/news files and account settings, stored passwords, address book, security certificates and preferences.

You may have multiple Mozilla profiles on one computer, for example, to separate your home and work Web surfing activities, or for each of your family members sharing your computer.

7.2. How do I set up multiple profiles?

You may set up new profiles from the Profile Manager:

On Mac OS X, hold down the Option key and double click the Mozilla icon. *

If you had a previous profile and it is not listed, it is either corrupted or is no longer recognized by Mozilla.

7.3. Where is my profile stored?

The location of a profile has three elements: the BASE, its NAME, and its SALT (xxxxxxxx.slt). For example,

C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\ John Smith\ lm34qgkq.slt base profile directory name salt

The BASE profile directory houses the profile registry (Registry.dat) file. The BASE directory depends on the system settings, as will be described later.

When you create a new profile, you can choose a different BASE directory and NAME sub-directory to put your profile files.

The SALT is a sub-directory named with eight random alpha-numerals followed by .slt extension (see 7.4 What is the @$%#@$%#.slt directory in my profile directory?). When you create a new profile, Mozilla automatically generates a SALT directory if it doesn't already exist. But if SALT does exist, the Profile Manager will use it.

Seamonkey.doc Page 7 of 41 So how does the Sea Monkey web editor compare to ? If it's better, that'll really suck having to download a whole suite just for that one component.

It isn't better, as it's the basis on which NVu has been built (missing lots of features, but with the same ). NVu's main developer has committed to donating back [glazman.org] all the new code to the main Mozilla before releasing another version of NVu, and as far as I know, that's currently in the process of happening (although slowly, as it's a lot of code to be reviewed, and not many capable of doing so). SeaMonkey 1.5 should contain the results of this work, so basically a WYSIWYG editor nearly identical to current NVu.

Profiles

7.1. What is my profile?

Seamonkey.doc Page 6 of 41 As a result SeaMonkey has a number of features that aren't present (by default or at all) in Firefox/Thunderbird, ranging from roaming profiles, to the and javascript debugger, to tighter integration between the email program and the browser to far more preferences exposed and easily editable. On the other hand, Firefox has more money behind it, and so has been developing rapidly in some areas, resulting in a large gap in SeaMonkey in an area such as extension management (of course, extensions aren't as necessary for effectively using SeaMonkey, but it's still a big gap).

So, to answer your three questions:

Compatability with Thunder/Fire themes and extensions.

Partly, depending on the specifics of the extension, and the effort its developer went to. I answered this question more fully here [slashdot.org].

Does it share the same security holes, or will it have its own ;)

It will mostly have the same (as most security problems are in the backend), but a few less in the frontend, as SeaMonkey has tighter review requirements than Firefox does. (I can think of one big security problem in the last year that was related to extension management which was only present in Firefox, not in Mozilla/SeaMonkey.)

Will it be udated as often as Thunder/Fire?

Yes, that is the goal, give or take a few weeks and some point releases. A SeaMonkey 1.1 release should come around the time of .0, and a SeaMonkey 1.5 for whenever Firefox 3.0 happens. (They'll be matches fairly closely in time, as both depend on the same branches and heavily tested stable code.)

So, is it Firefox and Thunderbird thrown together in one executable? Or is it something more or less.

It's both more and less. It has a different approach to what such a program should be. Firefox and Thunderbird operate on the principle that it needs to be usable by the proverbial grandmother, and make a lot of sacrifices to get there. Features that are considered "bloat" or confusing are cut rigorously, the gets lots of polishing, and everything that isn't considered essential for operation is delegated to the status of extension (which leads to a number of problems [dbaron.org]). Because of this, Firefox and Thunderbird are supremely usable products, which I'll heartily recommend to any computer novice.

SeaMonkey on the other hand continues the tradition of the Mozilla Suite, which cared less about appearing clunky and confusing, and is far more customizable and ultimately usable for power users, web developers and other geeks. The SeaMonkey people understand that people can have ways to browse which aren't intuitively obvious to grandmothers, but which are ultimately more efficient, and that enabling this is a great good.

Seamonkey.doc Page 4 of 41 After months of submissions and selection processes, the SeaMonkey Council is announcing a new logo for its project and application. The project's initial call for logo submissions was answered with no fewer than 197 different proposals submitted by Mozilla and SeaMonkey community members. From those 197 logos, amongst which were many good options, the Council selected the new logo after many discussions and a long decision process.
