Domaine dugois Arbois – chardonnay terre de marne jura Story In 1973, Daniel Dugois bought 2 hectares of vineyard and a house equipped with wine cellars in the village of Les Arsures, where he was born. He cultivated the vineyard and sold his production regionally. In 1982, he made his first harvest into wine in his own cellars and began to sell his wine in bottles to consumers. His first ever harvest earned him his first Gold Medal for his Chardonnay at the Jura Wine Contest. In 2013, Philippe took full control of the Domaine and in 2014, his wife, Melanie, joined the team as well. Their arrival enabled Daniel and Monique to take full advantage of their retirement. In that same year, Philippe and Melanie committed the Domaine to sustainable agricultural practices under the auspices of the “HVE” certification program. In 2019, the Domaine embraced the challenge of transitioning to NOP certification, which should be attributed in 2021. Grape Variety 100% Chardonnay Terroir Red gritty clay over Tri ass ic red marl and clay over dolomitic rock. Sustainable vineyard management. The use of phytosanitary products is monitored plot by plot. 33% of the ground between the vines is left covered with grass whilst the rest is worked by digging and raking. The yields are rationalized by pruning and bunch thinning. Winemaking Harvested by hand and pressed using a pneumatic press. After settling the must for 20 hours, the alcoholic fermentation starts automatically thanks to the naturally-occurring yeasts. The fermentation temperature is maintained at 18°C. Malolactic fermentation is then repeated thanks to the naturally-present bacteria. Tasting notes Bright straw color. Aromas of green apple and cherry plum, with a hint of honey and almond which carry onto the palate. The mouthfeel is sharp and mineral. Good length.
