Trainini Model Railroad Magazine
October 2020 Volume 16 • Issue 183 International Edition Free, electronic magazine for railroad enthusiasts in the scale 1:220 and Prototype www.trainini.eu Published monthly Trainini no guarantee German Magazine for Z G auge ISSN 2512-8035 Along the Ruhr and the Diemel Railway Lines along Wine Mountainsides A German Oddity Trainini ® International Edition German Magazine for Z Gauge Introduction Dear Readers, If I were to find a headline for this issue that could summarise (almost) all the articles, it would probably have to read as follows: “Travels through German lands”. That sounds almost a bit poetic, which is not even undesirable: Our articles from the design section invite you to dream or help you to make others dream. Holger Späing Editor-in-chief With his Rhosel layout Jürgen Wagner has created a new work in which the landscape is clearly in the foreground. His work was based on the most beautiful impressions he took from the wine-growing regions along the Rhein and Mosel (Rhine and Moselle). At home he modelled them. We like the result so much that we do not want to withhold it from our readers! We are happy and proud at the same time to be the first magazine to report on it. Thus, we are today, after a short break in the last issue, also continuing our annual main topic. We also had to realize that the occurrence of infections has queered our pitch. As a result, we have not been able to take pictures of some of the originally planned layouts to this day, and many topics have shifted and are now threatening to conglomerate towards the end of the year. -
Nuttlar Viaduct Unites Regions at a Height of 115 Metres
Sborník 21. Betonářské dny (2014) Sekce ST2A: Vyzvané přednášky NUTTLAR VIADUCT UNITES REGIONS AT A HEIGHT OF 115 METRES Gero Marzahn Hans Grassl Gerhard Dieter Guido Bogdan Buddenkotte Schummer Abstract The Nuttlar motorway viaduct is currently under construction in North Rhine Westphalia, the most populated area in Germany with 18 million inhabitants. Because of its exposed position, it sets extreme technical demands on the engineers in terms of the design and implementation of the construction work. With a total length of 660 metres, it spans the deep valley of the Schlebornbach at a height of 115 metres (pier height 110 metres). It is part of the new 5.6 km section of the A46 between Bestwig/Velmede and Nuttlar. Supported on six piers, the structure creates a well-proportioned geometry with seven spans and ensures that impact on the landscape is minimised. Designed as a composite- steel bridge, the steel superstructure was inserted over a maximum single span of 115 metres without the aid of auxiliary supports or pylons using an incremental launching method, something completely new for Germany. The slab for the bridge deck has been poured section-by-section since April. The viaduct is designed for a cross-section of RQ 26 with a usable width of 28.60 metres between the rails. Klíčová slova: motorway viaduct, incremental launching method, composite-steel bridge 1 Introduction/basic parameters of the project The Ruhr region is one of the largest urban centres in Europe, so that infrastructural measures such as the expansion of traffic connections play a vital role here. -

Stream Valleys in the Arnsberg Forest
Stream valleys in the Arnsberg Forest LIFE-Project 2009 - 2014 LIFE Project „Stream valleys in the Arnsberg Forest” Germany The Arnsberg Forest is one of the largest forested areas in North Rhine-Westphalia. Numerous water- North Rhine-Westphalia courses, ranging from small brooks to broad streams, flow through the forest. In areas of less intensive forestry utilisation, valuable natural habitats were pre- served and were able to develop. Floodplains and bogs provide a home for the Kingfisher and the Black Stork, for the Black Alder and the Downy Birch, for the Brown Trout and the Bullhead. District of Soest In addition to the exploitation of the forest as a source of wood, many stream valleys were utilised for cen- turies as meadows or pasturage. Water was both a blessing and a curse. It provided the soil with nutrients and prevented it from drying out, but also submerged Hochsauerland District the flat floodplains and turned them into marshes. To prevent this, drainage ditches were dug, streams were channelized and their courses were relocated, meadow irrigation systems were constructed – the closer to human settlements, the more elaborate were „LIFE“ is a financing programme of the European Union for the measures taken.
