Clooney will challenge us to affirm Christ in the Church and tradition while looking with hope and humility into the wider world. We must discern Christ present in every religion while never limiting the mystery of God. Today’s challenge of pluralism is distinctive to the 21st century, but the example of pioneering Jesuit , in India for example, suggests how we might by reason and faith discern God’s presence in other religions and their cultural heritage.
